A great DVD player at a low price. The Electronics Express ,the supplier for the DVD player provided specially design remote to control this updated player which works great. I am totally happy with this purchase.

Either this was defective out of the box or it really sucks?Seemed OK, set up was fairly simple. Set up Wi-Fi ect.Went to put in a Disc and the door wouldn't open? Hmm finally got it to openOnce the movie was playing it interrupted the show? Told me to set up network connection:(Had to restart movie after turning off unit because it wouldn't allow me to move forward? Bad SoftwareTried playing my Amazon Prime later and the unit would not turn on:(Once I finally got it to turn on and was playing a show, the remote would not allow me to pause without stopping the show. Overall bad experience!Replaced with the Sony BDPS3700 and it works GREAT, would highly recommend the Sony.

So, if you're wanting to buy this blu-ray player mainly for streaming - stop right there and go buy a Roku or firestick. This player is just not built for streaming, I'm sorry to say. I bought this because I wanted to use it for blu-rays and DVDs and watching my downloaded films from a USB stick. And it does all of those things pretty decently. I have to say that I notice some skipping when I watch blu-rays and DVDs. Or, rather, the sound will suddenly drop out for a couple of seconds and then I have to rewind that part to hear the sound. I know it's not a problem with any of my discs - it does it with new discs, old discs, discs that I've watched recently on other players that work just fine - it's definitely a fault with this player and I'm not sure why it happens or how to fix it or if it can be fixed. It's not a huge problem. It only happens occasionally so it's not too annoying, just mildly inconvenient. I figure you get what you pay for. I wanted a cheap blu-ray player because I'm not made of money and I just wanted to watch my collection of films and shows, man. Like I said, it does that decently, but with the trade-off that it's not perfect. I knew that going in and I was willing to accept that. For only $60 this player is not that bad - the picture quality is good as well as the DVD upscaling and the simple, easy to use menu layout - but I wouldn't pay any more than that due to it's faults.Again, DO NOT buy this for streaming because it's streaming capability is terrible at best. If you want really good streaming quality you're better off getting a dedicated streaming device such as a Roku or Amazon Firestick or whatever. I have a Roku for streaming and it works very well. If you're really intent on having an "all-in-one" type of player/streaming device then I think you'd be best spending a lot more money on something that's much better quality.

For the price of this blu-ray player I was expecting better quality. From time to time I've run into issues with connectivity, and it was not the Wifi at fault. Sometimes unplugging the player and plugging it back in was needed to help with the connectivity issues. I don't like that every couple weeks I'm having to crawl under the entertainment center to pull the power plug for a hard reset. It should just always work. I'm not impressed at all with the remote that comes with the player. You have to point it exactly at the player for it to work. That drives me crazy! It's tiny, and easy to lose too. It would be nice to have a remote that works without having to point it directly at the player. Anyone that visits can't seem to figure out the remote and assume it needs new batteries. The quality is not there with this player, and I regret paying over $70 for it! I would not buy an LG blu-ray player again.

My rating is somewhat reflective of the fact that this is a 12VDC player and that is uncommon; most small electronics that aren't USB powered run at 19 volts. I wanted this for our off-grid cabin where we only run 12 volt solar/battery DC and did not want to have to step up voltage, but it could also be used on an RV or boat - very low power consumption. I built an automotive-style power cable by cannibalizing a I already had for a matching tip, and a for the plug with a spot of wire between. I could have sacrificed the power adapter that came with it, but wanted to preserve that in case we brought it home in the future. Using a long HDMI cable, we have this connected to a , which is a projector that also runs at 12 volts. So far so good. Because the projector is mounted overhead, we wanted to use the USB port on this to load media and movies. We found that movies ripped to 1280x800 with 2 channel stereo at 44kHz sample rate play fine. We also tested out Netflix - we use a phone based hotspot in an cradle amplifier for internet - and in our 10 minute test it worked perfectly, even given our limited bandwidth. Overall we are quite happy. If I was buying this for home I might choose a player that had component video out, optical audio out, or analog audio out as secondary - this is HDMI only - but for our purposes this is fine.

I purchased this to replace a similar Sony device. I learned the hard way that Sony is not good to deal with when it comes to customer service. I gave up on Sony and this player was easy to set up and it is working perfectly with our LG big screen TV. I don't know if Sony connects the dots very well because I had problems with their low cost Blue-Ray Player and their customer service was terrible. When it came time to buy an expensive TV I made sure it wasn't a Sony. LG seems to make good products and so far I haven't had to contact their customer service because the products work as advertised.
