Hone your jumpshot in your spare moments or perform a backyard dunking drill with this Lifetime portable basketball system. Unlike in-ground basketball hoops--which are typically anchored in concrete--the portable hoop rolls on wheels, letting you position the basket support in any desired location, from the back patio to the middle of the cul-de-sac. All you have to do is fill the polyethylene base with water or sand and play.
Lifetime knows that dunking and above-the-rim play are a huge part of modern basketball, which is why the hoop comes with both a height adjustment mechanism and a spring-back rim. The three-piece, 3.5-inch Power Lift pole includes a pneumatic mechanism to help you easily raise and lower the backboard from 7.5 to 10 feet with one hand. Thanks to the handy technology, players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the game on their own terms, while aspiring dunkers can gradually raise the level an inch at a time as their vertical improves. The arena-style Slam-It Rim, meanwhile, is designed specifically for players who like to throw down. The solid-steel rim features wraparound bracing and double-compression springs that give way during dunks to protect the player, then spring back once released. The orange rim is also supported by 1/2-inch braces, with welded-steel net hooks and an all-weather nylon net.
Other features include fade-resistant graphics screen-printed onto the backboard with UV-resistant inks, rigid rectangular extension arms that provide superior backboard rebound, a blow-molded frame pad for protection, and a powder-coated, rust-resistant finish around the pole. The hoop carries a five-year warranty that covers everything on the system.

Amazon.com Basketball System Buying Guide

With the high-quality construction of many portable basketball systems, turning your driveway into a basketball court can be as simple as hooking up your garden hose. But while a portable system may ultimately be your best choice, there are reasons you may want to consider an in-ground or wall-mount system before you decide.

In-Ground Systems
are permanently cemented into the ground--either via a bolt mounting kit or directly into the ground--and are generally more rigid and take up less space than portables. In-ground systems often require that you hire a professional to complete the task, but when the cement dries you'll have a hoop that can take punishing dunks with ease.

Many in-ground systems are height-adjustable, include removable post features that let you take the system down for off-season storage, and feature heavy-duty break-away rims. You'll also want to research the adjustable mechanisms on the systems, as there are several types to choose from. Some feature a counter-balance spring that lets you perform easy, one-hand adjustments while others may feature a sturdy, pneumatic system.

Wall-Mount Systems
can be mounted to the side of a house, a tall retaining wall, or a garage. Generally sturdier than portables, wall-mounts have the added advantage of optimizing your existing ground space for the court, since you won't take any space up with the base or pole. Not all systems include the necessary hardware, so make certain you add a mounting kit to your list.

Portable Systems
require minimal installation and offer ultimate convenience. These systems generally feature a base that can be filled with sand or water to stabilize them and include wheels for portability. Although they are not as sturdy as in-ground or wall-mounted hoops, portables are simple to set up and can often be folded for convenient storage.

Backboard Considerations
Regardless of which system you choose, you'll want to brush up on Backboards 101. Most residential systems feature backboards made of acrylic, fiberglass, graphite, or various other composite materials. While clear acrylic gives the professional look and feel of glass, it is not as rigid as fiberglass or graphite. Some systems may offer steel or aluminum backboards, which are virtually vandal resistant, but don't offer the true rebounding action.

The regulation size of an NBA backboard is 72 inches wide and 42 inches high. Most portable hoops are 42 or 44 inches wide and 36 inches tall. In-ground systems tend to be a bit larger, with 54-inch and 60-inch widths being the most popular. While rectangular shaped backboards provide more bank shot opportunities, they are generally more expensive than the streamlined fan-shaped board.

The hoop is great and the kids love it!The assembly was WAY HARDER than the videos portrayed. I am pretty handy and love building stuff and it took me 8 hard hours to complete. Definitely ensure you have a full docket wrench and individual wrench set, a work table and a drill that doesn’t over tighten (clicks when bolt is tight).Another review has details on the difficult assembly, all of that I echo.

Seems really well made. Mechanism to adjust the height works well and is easy to use.Based on other reviews, I was dreading putting this together. It’s just not that bad. It took me, with the occasional help of a couple of kids, between 4 and 5 hours. It’s tedious - yes, but if you can follow instructions and set aside the time - it’s pretty intuitive.I recommend this goal and we’ve been having fun with it ever since we finished assembling it.

Bought this for my 6 year old and she loves it. It is a full size goal and built very well. It will last her for years to come.

Pretty happy with this but have only had it for a few weeks. Took about 5-6 hours to put together with the help of an 8 year old. Using the app along with the paper instructions made it pretty easy. Adjusts up and down very easy too. Does not wobble much at all on shots

First, the assembly manual is the best I've seen for something like this so far. Detailed writing and pictures that actually match the parts with very good details. That was enough for me to go on but they also had optional YouTube videos for each step with QR codes to scan which was really nice. Now for the hiccups (with the parts lettered as they are in the manual):1. Step 4.2: After you tighten the screws AQB, The nuts AAN will not tighten all the way to the metal. Maybe it's supposed to be that way but it's hard to tell; it works fine and the screws don't move2. Step 4.3: The rubber parts AQC will not fit when the bolt from step 5.7 is put in place. I had to cut a small piece off the midsection of AQC to make room the the bolt.3. Step 4.4: my bolt AAD had damaged threads on the very tip and attempting to tighten the nut would have ripped it off or damaged it further. I had to cut off the damaged tip with a hacksaw to proceed.4. Step 5.7: piece APR (finger touching in photo) was too long. It would fit but there wouldnt any room for the rear lifter arms (ALS) that was supposed to be installed with it. I actually had to get my multi-tool out and cut about a fifth of an inch off that metal cylinder and then file the edge smooth. I had trouble making the cut with a plain hacksaw. But as you can see in the photo now completely flush and fits.5. Step 6.5: The height sticker is not designed properly. When I set the hoop to 10 ft exactly And then line up the sticker at the 10 ft mark, the 7.5 foot height is actually indicated by my finger in the photo and the goal won't lower any further than that. Double checked the height on both.Lastly, you need to be decently strong or have a long ratcheting wrench to tighten the counterlock nuts that are used in multiple steps. I am strong but I had to put a good amount of effort in with my 6 inch ratchet. You will either have to hold the nut on the opposite end with one hand while you tighten the other end with opposite hand, or you need a partner to hold it for you.I did most of this assembly solo but it would definitely help to have a partner for a few steps. Those things being said, I'm really happy with the end result and it looks and plays great. Took me about 5 hours; probably would have taken me 4 if I hadn't had to improvise on a few steps and had a partner to help me the whole time. Hopefully Lifetime will see this and try to prevent these issues for other people.

Top quality!! We bought this for Christmas for our son and it is absolutely brilliant. It ticks all his boxes and expectations especially with the ease to higher and lower the ring, which is fantastic.Be prepared though, assembly is painstakingly slow. I did it on my own and it took 7-hours - I did have to redo some assembly sections for not paying closer attention to the detail in the instructions. Like all instructions they could be easier and with better parts coding but it was worth the blisters in the end. I recommend you assembly with someone to help.Worth the price!!

It took 7 and a half hours, with me and my skilled carpenter/mechanic son-in-law to put this together. Plus a third adult to help lift and hold it (horizontally) when parts needed to be attached, many of which did not line up as they were supposed to. And when you insert one section of the pipe into the other, you'd better make sure the holes for the bolts are lined up perfectly, because once pushed together you can't pull them apart. At that point (they weren't lined up, or else they were drilled wrong) my son-in-law had to drill through the steel pipe to create a new hole. Then when trying to attach the handle and pneumatic tube and pole together, in addition to needing at least three people, all the holes lined up but one -- it was off by a fraction of an inch. After unsuccessfully trying to muscle the sections in place, out came the drill again to drill through the rubber to allow the bolt to go through.. Do you have a drill with the proper bits? You also need a socket wrench kit, wrench, rubber mallet, lot's of muscle power to make things line up to slip in various connectors. Instructions (48 pages), though step by step, are in dire need of additional pointers to make sure you don't make common errors, and better diagrams of the hard to comprehend pieces that get put together. And, very important - if you are planning on paying the $100 or so for "expert assembly" like I was, don't count on it. We had the box, but the amazon expert assembly people could not find anyone who would do it. An that's over a two week period, with three calls to amazon. What you should do, is buy the expert assembly first (you then get to choose three days and hours as options), pick times a week out, and when (and IF) they confirm it, THEN buy the unit -- it came very quickly. Otherwise, I'd say buy another of the two main competitors; I would if I had to do it again.

Very nice hoop. My kids love it. Very easy to adjust up and down. I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 because of the assembly. I don't claim to be a brain surgeon, but the assembly was fairly time consuming and took two adults. All in all, well worth the price of admission and so far we've gotten a lot of good use out of it.

Built it all by myself took 3 hours. All worth it, instructions were great. Love the infinite height adjust mechanism. Very sturdy hoop love the big 54" backboard great rebound with the acrylic surface(Had a tiny 44" one). Ah side from "the beast hoop" by spaulding this is the best portable hoop I've ever had and seen and played on. I highly recommend this hoop to players and serious ballers out there! Be ready to give up a few hours if your alone though for installation!
