Disconnected the wiring from the broken 3255, unbolted the rail, removed the 3255 from it support brackets. Bolted the new 8165 to the support brackets and rail. Reconnected the wires and then had to "train" the 8165 for stopping points for fully open and fully closed positions. Did the 2x4 test, it passed. Also had to replace the old 3255 wall control switch with the supplied switch for the 8165 unit Estimated it took me about one hour to do the entire job.

Direct fit for my 17 year old Liftmaster. Package came promptly and in good condition. Negative issues are the MyQ ap. and remote programming. I created an account but get nothing but the wheel of death after logging in.Tried everything trying to log in but no luck. Also could not program my old remotes. Other than that the opener works well.

Purchased this 3255 contractors model to replace a 2265-67 professional model that was installed originally in 2004 .. I was very satisfied, really quick 2 day delivery. Quick and easy removal and installation of the motor head all screws and connectors were identical. Programming was a little challenge primarily because the manual did not clearly show the learn button sequences and they were physically hard to see, received a better view from the website and was able to get the thing programmed. Overall Iām satisfied

Got this installed in my grandfather's garage and works great. Didn't come with instructions on the install or how to set up but Google solved that with the install manual. Pretty easy to set up once install with no issues!

Opener arrived early which was fine. Easy to install and setup.Just read the instructions and follow them.You will need to use the included wall switch and remote. I had to order a separate remote as it only comes with one.When setting the down force for the door, stop about an inch from the floor.Great videos on YouTube.

Fit perfectly. The automatic setup for travel and torque was outstanding. The myQ app was easy and worked perfectly. I sent an invite to my wife and it installed just as easily. I replaced both of our 12 year old openers so these comments apply to both. No difference . Very pleased.Update 3/26/2024- I have intermittent issues with one opener not closing all the way but going back up. I think it is a torque setting too sensitive but this is the down side of automatic settings I guess.

I bought this unit instead of buying the typical $20 to $35 replacement parts for the metal drive gear, washers and plastic worm gear. I figure it was better to buy this entire unit which came with a new logic board, new gears and the like so that I have the peace of mind that I dont have to replace any other old parts on the old unit (this includes any of the safety sensors and the like). Also, this package included a remote, so now I have another one to use along with the old unit and another wall unit button as well to use that I can put it closer to the inside portion of the garage door for more options. If you have the money to spare, this was more of a time saver and you do get 1 more remote to use. Definitely a plug and play approach to replace a broken 3255 unit.
