These are larger than you think and this is the short one. Also this has the big reservoir on it bigger base/very stable/ more burn time. No mfgr defects - all good. Was packaged well. Do not use these indoors. Fuel is kerosene.

Wish it had the heft and quality of the older lanterns but it's the quality of modern products. It does the jib and burns bright and is an attractive lantern that fits any decor.

I was looking for a reliable oil lantern for camping, and this one seemed like it would do the job. But now that I have it, I don’t want to get it dirty by using it because it looks so good! The proportions of this particular lantern and its globe give it a very solid and steady appearance. The shiny black metal and bright gold wiring give it elegance. So for now, this lantern is going to be part of our décor, rather than our camping gear!

I put a red globe from WT Kirkman in mine and it is absolutely beautiful! I love my lantern! And it works great!

I haven't used an oil lamp since the old one my mom kept in the basement for tornado warnings... so this lamp is a blast from the past. It is actually quite large--pay attention to the dimensions in the item description if you're looking for something smaller and more portable/storable. The lantern is very sturdy. It holds a lot of fuel and comes with a wick installed as well as an extra. The look is beautiful and the construction is good. I haven't had any leaks. Definitely puts out some heat from the top, as expected... so I wouldn't plan on using it much in the summer. But It's great to have for emergencies and for the winter. Beautiful lantern.

I have the original "Papa Bear" of Dietz lanterns before production moved to China. Dynamite lantern, that still functions well with over 50 years of use.I have the "Baby Bear" of Dietz lanterns. A little disappointed in quality of construction, and the thin materials and plating used, but it looked nice visually (same general styling as this model). Unfortunately, the moving parts have never operated smoothly, the cheaply made screw cap for the tank leaked from the day I got it, even with the addition of an O ring. And the leaking has only gotten worse over time. Frankly, I had written off the Chinese incarnations of this once reliable lantern. So it was kind an impulsive decision to obtain this model. I was hoping the larger size may allow for it to be made better, and that appears to be the case. So I'm not sure if this is the "mama bear" or just the "older adolescent sibling bear," but regardless of it's title (Officially, the Little Wizard #1) it is just right. More elegant and manageable in the house if the power is out, better constructed and better functioning than the "baby bear" version.I still worry about long term reliability, but it's been holding a filled tank of fuel for almost a month now, and it hasn't leaked oil anywhere. I need to put it to use more (it's summer as I write this), before I will know if I can recommend it--but again, as of now, it is just right.

A lighter weight material than I expected. I have an older Coleman similar and it’s heavy duty material. This one feels very thin/light and would bet it’s easily dented. Everything else is as expected and good quality.
