If you know anyone that works in Healthcare, you know that they love tchotchkes to add to their badges. Many of us have been nominated for a Daisy award and we like to proudly display this on our badge. Unfortunately, most pin backs come off easily, and we end up with one of these in the patient’s bed or losing it all together while Walking within the hospital. I love that these are locking, and I have been able to hang onto my badges without fear that they will end up in a floor somewhere. There have been enough in this packet that I’ve been able to share several with friends and I like that it comes with two Allen wrenches. I find this to be very easy to use and these feel much stronger than the initial back that came with my pens. I now have these in my nursing work bag and I do not intend to be without them.

Locking pin backs are great for keeping enamel pins on jackets and hats, they do take up a little more space than the usual clutch or butterfly back; however, they are much more secure. In most cases, once a locking back is used your pin will stay on during everyday activities, usually the washing machine too. If you get a pin caught on something, it could still be pulled out from the back (it takes some doing though).Putting them on isn't complicated, but slightly fussy because they're tiny. I find it's easiest to put the pin in place first, then pull out the back pieces. I set the cylinder first (the pin will try to catch on the hole for the screw, you may need to adjust the set it a bit to get it on correctly) then set the screw on the hex key for setting. I like to hold the cylinder down against the pin while I fit the screw to keep it from slipping and possibly off-setting. With this brand, the screw will stop once it's reached a certain depth, and it doesn't appear able to be over-tightened (actually a good thing so you don't bend the pin). This is a good set of pins, as fine as any other brand I've used. I find the price point competitive, and I wouldn't hesitate to get another set.
