As a picky preschool/kindergarten teacher, I wanted something fun when it came to educating my own son at home. And this set is just as fun for me as it is for him. I like the feel of all Lovevery products, this set included. I will be using it along with LOTS of read alouds, sandpaper letters, bob books, magnet letters, and activities found on sites like “busy toddler” etc.

This set was very hit and miss for us. Some activities were too easy for our 3.5 year old or not very engaging, while others are fantastic (the spelling slider activity). The little plastic letters are also difficult to use then tidy. We much prefer the Reading Skills 2 set, where every single activity is a hit and the letters are on wooden tiles instead. We have combined the best activities from this kit with some at the right level from the next kit for now. I would recommend simply waiting until the child is ready for set 2, which is fantastic value for money!

The quality of the reading series is excellent. So much comes with the kit that it is very worth the price. I love how my 5 year old will focus intentionally on the games because they capture his attention. It keeps him engaged and he wants to play it.The guidebook is super helpful (and you can skim the instructions quickly to get right going). I don’t feel like I need to be a teacher and it comes with everything I need to know to help him learn – while actively engaged and having fun. I love how he plays independently so well too. Some of the games, like the maze game and the compound words matching cards started with us playing them together. But now he’ll grab them and work on his own – and is so proud of himself when he succeeds. The stories are so fun and interesting versus normal early reader books!I was deciding between the Part One and Part Two kits and wasn’t sure. I’m so glad I got both. Starting with Part One built confidence and a good foundation. I also figured I could save it for my now three year old child next year – but since she wants in on the action, we’ve started using it with her already, and she’s also showing great progress. With the syllable game she immediately understood syllables!

This kit is so thought out and perfect for making learning fun. My daughter was eager to do all of the activities and I can absolutely see how each activities has its place and builds on the previous skills acquired. I love how the guide explains ways to teach your child and why.We also loved that there was minimal plastic, including the packaging. There are so many activities and allows for quality time that is more than just worksheets and reading books. It’s straight forward for the parent and child so each activity is quick to get started on. My daughter is now counting syllables to words everywhere we go.

The value of this kit is incredible! When you open the box there are smaller boxes inside which you open one at a time and in order. There are easy to follow recommendations of how to introduce each to your child for them to progress through the 3 skills. My daughter is still a little young but I decided to start this early because she is an early talker and has always shown an interest in books and this has made reading so much fun for her. Just by using it for the last week I have already seen a big improvement in her ability, she has already been playing independently with the compound word sounds cards and is matching them correctly. I am excited to get to the follow the sound maze game because I think it will end up being a perfect screen free game to keep her occupied on car rides and out to eat. This is all around so cool, such a fun kit, the quality of games are amazing and colorful. This is worth every penny in my opinion and is a worthwhile investment in my daughter’s development. I highly recommended this kit if you want to help jumpstart reading.

While expensive, this kit is really good quality and my toddler is picking up essential pre-reading skills that I wouldn’t know how to teach on my own. She’s almost two and a half and can recognize all capital and lower case letters, can breakdown a compound word, can count out syllables in words, and is gradually gaining understanding of letter sounds. She loves the letter beehive and the syllable game but is still struggling with the concept of rhymes and isolating beginning and ending sounds. I love that all the images on the cards and blocks can be used to work on different skills once its intended skill is mastered. And unlike most other reading programs, it’s 100% screen-free learning.
