Pun intended, but I do think it's a good addition for the money. One star removed because of the slightly lighter weight construction than I would have liked, it handles my 20" ride ok but anything bigger and heavier might be sketchy, especially if you're a big hitter. The size of the spindle and nut at the top are really for smaller cymbals but works anyway. I only really bought it because of the Ludwig designation to match my drum set, so job well done.

Holds my 20 inch ride, but it’s a bit flimsy, other than that a good little stand, might be more practical for a crash or something smaller.

Got it and it works great! Made just like the old school 1960's version but with modern functional upgrades, small, light weight and takes up little room in my hardware bag.

This cymbal holder fot my older Ludwig set perfectly .Great replacement for a misplaced one .I was over joyed that it fit a 1970 drum kit.

I had the 1960's version of this when I bought my first drumset. Back then it would fall over constantlyI was reviving some of my vintage drums from the 80's and though back then I used a floor stand, I wanted to go back to having a bass mount as I liked the placement and convenience.I had hoped as they added a memory lock and a notch it would hold my 20" ride, but, it did what it did in the past and fell over on occasion. So I bought the DW bass cymbal holder (which is rock solid). However, that one is too much for a splash cymbal, so I repurposed the Ludwig for use with that and it works great!

It fit perfectly in my mid-60s Ludwig kick drum and couldn't have been any easier to install.

If this is actually made by Ludwig I would be very surprised. The workmanship is shoddy. The teeth on the tilting mechanism do not match, there is no Ludwig branding anywhere on it and it feels flimsy. In the accompanying picture it shows the mount that fits on the drum. This is NOT included so I have a further purchase to make. In consequence the cymbal arm is useless until I get one.Overall, I'm hugely disappointed by this and will be returning it if the mount proves too expensive.

This is a classic piece of drum kit hardware. Personally, despite all this nonsense about "virgin" bass drums, I simply cannot properly utilize my ride cymbal unless it is mounted to one of these. It was originally included on drum kits for a reason - it puts the ride cymbal exactly where it is supposed to be. I have used kits with boom stand mounted rides and they lack something. I believe that the cymbal actually sounds better mounted on the bass drum. I use a 24" bass drum and a 24" ride and it is almost as if the bass drum "grounds" the cymbal - it certainly has a stronger feel than when on a regular stand. Bottom line: if you have always thought about having one of these, go for it. If you decide that it is not for you, you have added 2 more holes to the 40 or so that already have been drilled into the drum.
