It is true, there is no cymbal stand piece with this. Just the rod with the weight. That's ok, I knew this from researching it a bit more. What's better about this arm as opposed to Yamaha's older version, is this will work with any cymbal Yamaha 865,965 Cymbal stand. The older style was more expensive and you had no options with the larger diameter tube stock. I also really like the Tilt adjustment on this as well as the 865 and 965 Yamaha stands. The counter weight is heavy and nicer in size compared to the older style. One surprise I did get though was from the picture, I had this thought that the black material around the boom weight was metal. But it is a black galvanized rubber around a metal weight. In my experiences with rubber in the past is, that in some years down the road, the rubber can break down and crack or rot. If this happens , I plan on cutting it all off with a razor as the steel weight under the rubber is still the main weight and will work fine. it is also advertised too that the weight is removable. I have not been able to unscrew mine off or figure out how to remove it. You don't need to remove the weight though to place it in the cool 865 or 965 clamps. And these newer cymbal stand clamps do not bite into the Chrome rod either unlike Yamaha's older cymbal stands. I still gave it 5 stars cause of it's design, as I have owned the older versions of this and they were bulky and not cheap. I actually think it's a good time to buy some of this as I wonder if it's gonna be not in production or harder to find sooner than later.

I bought this extra long boom since I can't move my cymbal stands closer in because I have tom stands in the way. The boom is just long enough reach for my cymbals. The total length of the boom from tip-to-tip is 36", I don't think this is stated in the description. I can adjust the cymbal to any angle I want. This boom does what it is suppose to do.
