Used it a few times and then it sat on the shelf for over a year. Pulled it out one day to check a few potted plants and worked wonderfully. Keeps on working!

This product doesn't work. I read the reviews and knew some users said it always read 7.0, but then some reviewers said it worked fine. I peeled off the protective cellophane from the screen, which had 7.0 printed on it, thinking "I bet some users didn't pull this off, that's why they said it always reads 7.0." then I carefully followed instructions and used both the simple method and the harder but more accurate method. After getting 7.0 reading in new top soil I was doubtful and tested again using the more accurate 1 cup soil 1 cup distilled water method. Still 7.0So I tested my blueberry beds which have been treated with Sulpher 3 times in the last 18 months and have been tested by a lab at 5.4, (so not there yet). Sure enough it read 7.0. So I tested the clay/loam soil from a bulldozer cut on my land. Amazing, 7.0Next I tested a load of premium compost. 7.0 again!Next I stepped into the woods and got some rich woodland soil, sifted it and mixed with equal parts distilled water, let it settle out, drained the excess water and tested it. 7.0 again.Thats pretty damn impressive. Every bit of soil, even that treated with sulphur. All 7.0Don't buy this. It doesn't work.

Completely inaccurate. All soil samples came up as 7, even my blueberry soil, which I KNOW is not 7. After using on the first day, I pulled out of soil and top just came right off. Do not buy. Cheap garbage. I also purchased the Rapitest soil test kit. Blueberry soil tested acidic, as I expected. Would def recommend Rapitest. This digital monitor is a cheap joke!

I’m a hobby vegetable gardener in a region of Texas where we have lots of clay and low pH. I decided to start monitoring my pH levels in order to keep tabs on it while I worked to improve the clay content via lime addition. Lime helps break down clay and increase pH. But you really need to keep a close watch on it or you can go way overboard increasing pH into the danger zone. Thus I bought this easy to use tool. However, I quickly found out that it is extremely finicky and oftentimes doesn’t give any reading, even when used exactly as they say. Damp soil and leaving it alone for a minute or so to allow it to find the pH. Most times, it would swing wildly high and then zip down to the preset calibrated 7.0, and never change. This was all over my yard, not just the garden. Even my potted soil I have for herbs did the same thing. Only once in a while did it respond as stated, giving me a 6.2-6.6 reading in various areas. I would love to say I trust this thing, but until I find some soil with a specific pre-determined pH to “gauge” this gauge, I can’t recommend it or score it above a 3.

Takes it a bit but I’d rather wait for accurate info. Very pleased with this. Have used it with other readers and it’s very close to their reading but I actually believe this one is more accurate.

Broke mine on first use, probe pushed into unit and detached wire from the probe. Based on the other reviews I'm sure it works fine. Make sure your soil is extra soupy before you try to use it
