The blade is dull on top so it doesn’t cleanly cut the shell. It makes a mess of the shrimp. Should be sharp on top, serrated on the bottom to clean the vein.

Wasn't able to get tool to devein medium shrimp without mangling shrimp. Wondering if tool is only useful for larger/jumbo shrimp.

This shrimp deveiner is attractive and easy to hold. I opened it easily, then tried unsuccessfully to fold it back. Perhaps the "lock" is broken but neither I nor my husband could get it to work so that the blade could be folded into the handle. I'm returning it unused and buying an Oxo shrimp deveiner.

This works great. I have only used it a couple of times so far, but it has made cleaning and deveining raw shrimp so much easier than the small knife I used to use and so much faster too.
