Love the wood handle and dull wide blade. It did the job well. Everyone at camp tried it out and agreed of everything 5 families bought for shucking oysters this was the best tool and most widely used.

I bought two of these and they are quite adequate to do the job.

Cheaply made but sturdy, if you just need a basic oyster knife this will work fine but for regular use you might find the commercial rubber handled knives work better. For the price its a decent cheap knife that will get the job done and you wont mind the cost to replace it when it wears out.

this knife is a firm sturdy oyster shucker! worth it for the great price. I had no problems with it what so ever.

These are well enough built but take note the part that is pressed into the wood handle is much thinner and not as strong for those tough shells. Ihad to stop using these on a particularly tough batch of oysters this year when one twisted in the handle and switch to my Victorinox knives. These types, (with the plastic handle molded over the back of the blade) typically have stronger handle to blade strength when twisting those extra tough to open ones. They cost more, but usually ones like this Winco are fine.

I'm not using this for oysters or clams. I'm a lampworker (I make glass beads and other objects), and I read that an oyster knife would be a great tool to add to my collection. How true!Dollar for dollar, this may be the best tool I've ever bought; it's a great tool at a far lower price than just about anything else I use. It shapes the glass perfectly and can cool a very precise area using the blade or the flat. It's far more useful than I would have thought. I'm glad I have it and sorry it took me so long to buy it!

I used it on 2 dozen oysters and it works great. I did sharpen the end a little before I first used it, but that's probably not necessary. I like the wood handle because I plan to burn my name in it as a customization. Works better than a screw driver that I have used in the past when I wound up in a vacation home that did not have an oyster knife. I found good videos online that demonstrate how to shuck oysters.

I got 2 of these because some reviews said they broke easily. I also ordered the $18 Dexter Russell model just in case. Well these Wincos are unreal. I had bent my previous brand knife opening up large beach oysters & so I tried one of these first. Well low & behold it opened them without any trouble & didn't bend a bit. Usually you get big scratches on the blade from inserting them, but not with these. I'm truly impressed & may just send the $18 one back as I didn't have to use it. Looks like with 2 of these I'll be good for ages!

I bought two of these knives and they are just perfect for opening in-shell oysters that are raw. Since we only eat steamed clams, I haven't used them on those, but since they open an oyster perfectly I imagine they would do the same for clams. The knife is well built, solid, and good looking. The knife blade is strong and easy to clean. I wood handle is very smooth and well attached to the blade. I would recommend them to anyone.
