I have a few different external enclosures for M.2 drives like this but this is the first time I've seen a dock that keeps the drive out in the open like this. It works really well - plug-and-play for sure. I didn't have any issues plugging in my drive, or getting the computer to recognize it right away. It does the job as advertised. Comparing to other docks, enclosures, or computer boards - it's odd that this is just out in the open with no heatsink attached to the drive. For that reason, I would caution using this for extended periods of time - the instructions even warn about the drive being hot to the touch and instruct you to be careful. As with all electronic components, heat is usually not your friend and will decrease the lifetime of the overheating item. This is otherwise a nice dock for the price if you're just looking to copy/backup/image.

I have a few SSD M2 drives laying around from older computers , so I figured I put them to use by using this docking station to swap them out quick. This is a great value for your money, it small and efficient. When possible I buy only the M2 drives as it cheaper then buying with a case, and having this docking station opens up the opportunity to buy any M2 bare drive. It connected right away / was detected bymy Mac computer without any issues. It uses USB-C interface, so by nature the transfer speed is much faster than your typical usb connection. The docking station is a little brick itself which helps to hold the M2 drive in place. It supports M2 data and M2 NVME drives; however the specifications states it only supports up to 4TB, I only have 2TB , so it works with 2TB, I don't have any SSD above 4TB to validate if can or can't support up to 4TB. Also even so it supports NVME, the instructions says it only supports speed up to 10Gbs, so it won't use the full potential of your M2 NVME drive if it is 20Gbs speed one. I use my SSD M2 drives mostly for storage and backup purposes, so is rare the times I will need to have it plugged in for longer than a few hours, so this docking station is the perfect solution for my use case. For the price and how well it performs, I highly recommend it if you have multiple M2 drives and need to quickly access that data.

I had a device very similar to this for the old style 3.5" and 2.5" SATA drives, but now that pretty much the PC world has moved to M2 solid state drives, this is actually quite handy. I like that it's a single cable connection and that the included cable supports older USB-A or newer USB-C. Another thing I like is this design doesn't care which size your M2 drive is (2280, 2230 or any other size), and the construction was surprisingly solid (the case is metal, not plastic). Working in IT as I do, something like this is incredibly handy provided you have the necessary bit locker keys or other information you might need to access the data on a drive after it's been pulled out. For around $30 I don't need to keep getting portable cases for the drives I swap out, I just need to label the drive so when I find I need access to some data, I can just drop the drive into that and do what I need to do.

This is a good tool if you are swapp M.2s or using them for storage. I had no issues with it reading and writing to the M.2s. When paired with the correct cable you can see a good uptake in speed. My only issue is how light it is, with a thicker cable it can pull it down due to the weight of the cable.

This is a review for the SUITOK M.2 NVMe SSD Reader External.I work in systems management and data management for a living, and these external readers and docks are such great time savers and a must for anyone who regularly repairs computers and servers. This dock was quite surprising, yet simple in operation. The aluminum body is a nice touch for heat dissipation. It is simple: just plug the included USB-C into your computer, plug in the M.2 drive, and do your work. I typically use these to wipe and reformat drives to reimage and prepare for another system. Since most systems use the same hardware, I can image directly to the drive and throw it into another computer. I didn’t pay much attention to benchmarking. Typically, the speed is limited by the system bus doing the file transfer, so if I’m using a laptop, it usually doesn’t perform as well as a desktop. Usually, I set it and forget it, and this dock seemed to perform as well as other duplicators I use. This dock is great value compared to other duplicators I have. I will probably pick up more in the future.

This dock worked fine with my 512 GB M.2 Samsung SSD. Good speed with my USB 3.2 port. Also has a connection cable that can use both type-A and type-C USB ports. Unfortunately, the 12 inch cable that came with the dock was a bit short to reach the ports on my desktop and sit flat on the desk. I had to use an extension cable for the dock to sit on my desk. Cable should have been a little longer.

The M.2 NVMe SSD Reader External, 10Gbps to USB Adapter for Both M.2 (M Key, B+M Key) NVMe and SATA NGFF SSD Dock, Size for M2 22110 2280 2260 2242 2230 Drive Docking Station - Aluminum Alloy is a perfect solution for swapping M.2 drives. Somehow I have a lot of M.2 drives floating around my office. I do lots of things with them including loading Linux on them for friends to put in their computers. This is an ideal unit for swapping drives. It is heavy - much heavier than you would expect looking at it - which is great because it is stable and the extra aluminum helps dissipate heat. Also, it has 4 large, sticky rubber feet on the bottom that keep it from moving on the desktop. It is instantly recognized when I plug it in and reads whatever M.2 drive I stick in it. This is such a useful item because usually you have to put the M.2 drive into an enclosure to use it which is a real pain. And expensive, as external enclosures are expensive. I haven't measured the speed of transfers but it is pretty instantaneous. I also appreciate that it comes with a cable that has USB C connectors on both ends as that is the way connections are going. By the way, the drive itself is USB C, which I much prefer. Overall, this is an effective way to manage your M.2 drive collection.
