Both Norton Security and Windows Defender tell me not to run the Hlogger tool that this product tells me to use. Norton even went as far as deleting the file! I'm going to see if this device will collect useful data without using the tool... but so far, I can't recommend it AT ALL.

I've long desired a datalogger for my refrigerator, and this device perfectly fits the bill. I configured it to record every minute and left it in my refrigerator for the 10 days needed to complete the recording. Upon connecting it to my Linux desktop, it appeared as a removable drive, allowing me to effortlessly copy the PDF and CSV files onto my computer.I'm particularly impressed with the PDF report; it does an excellent job of formatting and summarizing the recorded data. It's astonishing that such a compact device can generate a comprehensive PDF file. The CSV file is also handy for importing data into a spreadsheet. Given its performance, I plan to acquire a few more for monitoring temperature in other areas of my apartment. However, I do have a couple of complaints. Firstly, I would have preferred the device to be delivered without the battery installed or powered on. My device arrived with about half the battery capacity, and after just 10 days of use, I need to find a new battery (CR2450). While not challenging to find online, it's not a common battery I have on hand.My second complaint is the non-intuitive interface. Reading the small manual is crucial, especially understanding the modes when connecting it to the computer. For copying recorded data, the LCD must display 'STOP,' and to configure it using the software, the LCD must show 'SLEEP.' The software, although seemingly sketchy, worked fine in my virtual Windows machine. However, I would have preferred a configurable text file on the device to change settings without relying on special software. I ran the software in a virtual Windows machine and found no evidence of it attempting to connect to an outside server. Still, it's advisable to exercise caution when using the software.Curiosity led me to disassemble the device, and I've included some photos along with a brief description of the internal components. U1 is a 16Mbit flash, likely storing the PDF and CSV data files, while U2 is a CH579F microcontroller from WCH, featuring an Arm Cortex M0. U8 is a Vinka VKL144B LCD driver, residing under the LCD. Interestingly, I couldn't identify the temperature and humidity sensors; they may be discreet or incorporated into the component beneath the LCD.Despite these minor drawbacks, this datalogger serves its purpose well, and I intend to continue using it while considering additional units for temperature monitoring in other locations.

This is a reusable temperature and humidity logger with a USB port. It is powered by a replaceable coin cell.I started it logging, and put it in the freezer, the refrigerator, and a normal room. It worked fine in all three, and you can see the output in the photos. The device logs every 10 minutes by default, once you start it. When you plug it into USB, it stops logging and shows up as a storage device, with a PDF and a CSV file as shown in the picture.Once you are done copying the files off, you can clear it and use it again. It comes with a calibration certificate. The website, which for some reason has no https security, has a software program and a PDF manual. I suggest you click the Read Online option on the manual and save the PDF, because the download option is a RAR v5 file that you will need a program to unpack. The manual is 10 pages and does explain how to use the device. The Windows software program (see screen capture in the photos) is also in a RAR file. Once unpacked, it lets you set the clock and various parameters, including an alarm threshold. The logger display will show an X if the threshold is exceeded. Such alarms are used for shipping meat, pharmaceuticals, etc. that needs to be kept cold. The software does not have any cloud or external dependencies, which is nice.Altogether this is a good device if you need to track temperature and humidity over time.

I have not yet been able to use this, as the instructions that came with it are not clear at all. They refer to online instructions that I will look at. There are 2 buttons total to control a wide range of features. I was trying to figure out how to turn it off and decided to remove the battery temporarily. The case opens with a coin and a quarter turn. The very edge of the case broke when I opened it (chipped off), and the thin rubber gasket on the cover now is poking out (I'm assuming the seal is no longer effective). It turns out that to change anything you have to use the software downloaded from the internet. This only works on PCs not Macs. I will not be able to use and regret ordering it.
