When some customers advised that our Simthread cotton 50wt is thin for their machines, here we are very pleased to introduce this 40wt cotton thread great for quilting machines and long arm machines.
- 40wt 3-ply 100% Long Staple Cotton, G&M processed for strength and very low lint. This Cotton Thread has a glazed finish that is perfect Machine Quilting Thread Cotton for Quilters.
- 40wt is a medium weight thread, and a good all-purpose choice for machine quilting. 3-ply thread is more wrinkle-resistant and holds its shape better than 2-ply thread. It is not too thin or too thick, so it is less likely to break or show through your quilt top.
- Perfect for no-stretch all-purpose sewing and quilting on natural woven fabric, and it can be used for a variety of quilting techniques, including piecing, applique, and machine quilting
- Simthread cotton thread 40wt 3-ply come in 2 different length, 500 yards and 3000 yards. Welcome to choose a spool length that is appropriate for your project.

Got this for my wife's quilting machine. Some of the polyester thread was giving problems but this cotton thread made her VERY HAPPY. Thank you for a good product. I will be getting more colors for her when she needs it.

This is smooth, strong thread. It glides through an 80/12 needle. Even 50 wt black cotton always seems a bit thick while this 40 wt is gorgeous and sews beautifully. These threads will be wonderful for top stitching as well as quilting. I also did a tiny bit on hand sewing to replace a button and it didn’t tangle at all. I use many types and weights of thread and these will join my favorites.

Was looking for black thread for and appliqué/quilting project. I didn’t realize there were different types of thread just knew I needed Machine Quilting Thread. The thread kept breaking and unraveling. I was told it could be a needle issue but did have a new needle installed the day before I used this new thread🤷♀️.

This product is not meant for long arm quilting. It can not manage the speed and machine. The thread broke every 2 minites when I tried to use it on my longarm quilting machine.

I used this on my longarm, with both edge to edge and free motion quilting. It worked for both kinds of quilting. 40wt is what I use most, so this is the same as other spools of thread for my longarm. I like the large spool so I can match the bobbin thread with the top.

This is a great thread for quilt piecing, mending or other utility sewing. I usually use 50 weight thread and wanted to see how much of a difference I would see with a 40 weight instead. The 40 weight is slightly thicker, but hardly noticeable without really looking closely. I included a picture of my normal thread on the left and the Simthread on the right. Both are incredibly similar. The white is a nice, bright white and the black is a true, solid black. I did not have any problems with this thread knotting or breaking while sewing. It stitched cleanly and I'm happy with the results. It's a strong thread and I'll enjoy using it in future projects.

couldn't use it; it's too big for my normal sewing machine. This needs to be relabeled as for quilting machines only.
