The only way to sort out old family slides …Using a big magnifying glass I easily recognised what slides to keep and what to throw out … saved hours holding them up to the light individually ☺️

This will help me review film negatives and slides before I scan them. It will be a lot easier than holding them up to the light. The unit works fine and is of good quality.

Exactly what I needed

I ordered this LED light box to speed up the review process for the many 35mm slides in my collection. Some of the slides are worth copying using a high-resolution scanner. I may even take this a step further processing with Photoshop. Both steps are time consuming but deliver the highest resolution and quality images. In other cases, the slides are just nice pictures good for a digital frame, small prints or shared electronically with the family and friends to recall a special occasion. It all comes down to sorting which is what a light box is designed for. This light box is an updated version of the old light boxes we all used back in the day. Only this light box uses bright white LED illumination that is consistent in color temperature and evenness across the screen. My old light boxes used incandescent bulbs or fluorescent tubes which were not as good with either. The dimensions for this light box given on the webpage are correct. The screen is large enough for a lot of slides with plenty of space for film strips if needed. It is rigid, flat with no ripples or bumps. The light emitted by the LEDs is evenly distributed across the screen and is adjustable in 3 levels. It uses very little power and remains cool to the touch.According to the manual the color temperature emitted by the LED's ranges from 10,000K to 12,000 K. This K value is really beyond what I've ever used and is sometimes called Skylight or blue Skylight. It is very bright light with no warmth or feeling. All I can say is the light is bright and white and doesn't add any coloration to the colors present in the slide. So, it should be presented exactly as you took the picture. You provide power to the light box using a standard Phone charger adaptor and the USB-C cable provided. Push the little Power Icon near the power connector to turn it on. Additional pushes on the button cycle through the 3 levels and the off position. In use, you spread slides or negatives across the surface of the box and adjust the light so you can see the images on the media. Like holding them in your hand to a light source. The light box kit comes with 2 magnets that are strong enough feel a strong attraction to the steel base underneath the light box surface. So, the magnets can be used to clamp film strips flat and in place on the light box surface for accurate scanning. A Very nice, simple solution and you can add additional magnets yourself if needed. So, the LED Light box works and meets the descriptions given on the website. Its solidly made, simple to use, offers an adjustable bright white surface that works perfectly - and the kit is inexpensive. I can easily recommend this light box. But, having said all this, the reason I chose this Light box was the claimed integration with the SlidesScan Phone app.Without going into detail or a 2nd review, the app was easy to download and provided very good scans that were saved directly to the photo library in my phone. I scanned the slides sitting right on the light box surface which produced well lit, well focused images where the cardboard slide frame was automatically eliminated - very cool - it really works. There are other pieces to learn but, you can download the SlideScan app without buying the light box and try it yourself. I think this is a good idea which will explain the conditions, limitations and variations available to you with this app. The light box is just an effective tool to be used with the app.

This took 8 days from when I ordered to be shipped. Manufacturers should not advertise an item as Prime if they can’t ship promptly. The listing states “for Viewing Scanning Negatives and Slides…”, which many folks will take to mean this product can scan to a digital file like a pdf or jpg. This is not accurate & the listing statement can be easily misinterpreted the way it’s written. You can “view some materials & possibly re-photograph portions of them” is a better & more accurate statement. This came in a sturdy outer cardboard box that was taped sealed to be tamper evident.Inside the thin light board had corner protectors and a plastic covering to keep it secure & safe.A USB power cord, 2 magnetic “holders” & an instruction manual were inside. This puts out a diffuse background light that brings slides to life. You can then manually re-photograph them without scanning,Another use is to look at multiple negatives to determine which are viable for further processing — say some are scratched, some are beyond cleaning, some are blurry — you can eliminate those & focus on the best ones to devote your time & energy toward.

adjustable brightness (3 levels), 2 magnets.when I was shopping for one of these light boxes, this one was by far the best value ($21.64).used with the "negative me" app to take photos of negatives then invert the colors.the results were WAY better than when I was using an empty picture frame, a sheet of paper, and a light bulb for a light box.a couple more magnets would be nice.
