I ordered this to add to my partner's job box--he's a pipefitter by trade, working in the traveling industrial construction sector, and his small center finder had gone missing a couple of jobs back, so this is a replacement of an important tool for him. (He's been making do with his large-diameter one for a while, and while it works, it means a lot less clearance between this and the pipe to get line of sight on his marks. And given that he likes working on noodle pipe rather than larger diameter, he needed this replaced, even though he'd never ask.)The magnetic arms on this do a good job of holding this center finder in place on most of the pipe he works with, making it possible for him to place marks accurately for things that need to be welded into the side of the pipe, or come off a main line all at the same angle. The rotatable leveling bubble makes it easy to find angles that are off the center line, or create sections.The materials of this seem to be high quality--heavy thick Y arms that won't bend out of place if it gets dropped, a snug rotating bubble that shouldn't get sloppy at holding an angle over time, and a hardened center punch for durability. All in all, this is a solid tool if you work with smaller-diameter pipe frequently for your job, and the price is reasonable given the quality.

A good center finder for quickly marking pipe for fab work. The magnetic base is flat and easily stays in place well while marking the pipe. The included bubble level makes sure your centering is level to the ground and makes it much easier to find angles off 0° for sectioning.
