I originally purchased ins hopes of getting to .001" accuracy in movement with a 1/2" movement range (placed it on a slope). Never could achieve that with repeatability, but works very well for measures to less critical, and appears it would handle less than lab conditions well. A ton of uses for this device and the price is right.
