Bought this to grind down log cabin to refinish the logs. Works very good, came in very quickly which helped out a lot. I would buy again

Used for 1.5 days on softwood, works great initially but lost all its bristles, would expect better given the cost.

I was excited for this brush. The machine itself is nothing but spectacular. But this wire brush was only used for 2 hours to raise the grain on burnt soft pine boards. It's toast. The wires fell out all over the floor and we were left with a nearly bare brush and unable to finish our project. Back to the drill and wire wheel. I'd pay $10 for this kind of quality, not $151.

I inherited a brush sander with the nylon bristles, they were worn and so i didnt really find a use for the brush sander as we generally use grinders and wire wheels to wear the softwood from timber and theyre really cheap but very disposable. It wasnt until I discovered the dustport on the brush sander that this machine made sense and the addition of the wire brush over the nylon means the brush sander has taken over the grinders in our workflow. Its expensive but so far after a couple of projects its holding up wonderfully and the labour time saved in not having to clean up as much dust means this really does pay for itself.

Works as advertised. No issues with it. I used it on cedar and fur. Raised the grain very well. I thought the wire would be more coarse. I bought this to use on harder woods like mahogany. It did not add a worn texture like I wanted. It just roughed up the surface a little.

Upon the recommendation of a friend, ordered it with the wire brush to use reclaim and repurpose some 120 year old rough sawn lumber. Was easy to use and did a great job. Haven’t used the standard nylon brush.

We have used this sander and wire wheel attachment for years and works great on Pine and Douglas Fir solid glue ups to open up grain and achieve an aged worn look and feel. Obviously not intended for tighter areas, so disregard some of the other negative reviews.

The nylon version of this that comes with the wheel sander works best on wood. This is very dense and difficult to force into uneven surfaces.

I bought this wire wheel for my Makita 9741 Wheel Sander. It is a quick way to open the grain or age wood in appearance. It works great on larger flatter areas but not so well into small recesses ( to get into tight areas I use a similar but much smaller wire wheel in a 1/4 inch die grinder). It's pretty much useless on tight grained woods like mahogany or poplar, but gives a great old and weatherbeaten look to more open grain woods like oak or ash. I have also found that I can make inexpensive pine or cedar look as if it sat in the desert sun for 50 years in a matter of minutes. Experiment with different types of wood till you find the results that you like. The abrasive nylon brush supplied with the sander may be useful for aging a painted finish, but is useless for aging bare wood.

The wheel sander works very well and the wire brush attachment was all I hoped for. The only reason I don/t give 5 stars is that nothing's perfect. It saved me considerable time and labor in opening the grain on large oak panels. No complaints.
