Photo really gives the impression of a two-pack. There's no real description to give you an impression otherwise, though now looking back, the title of the product does not mention it being a two-pack. So, shame on me, I suppose. I guess they were trying to show the front and back of the cassette at the same time?Anyway, I think anyone looking for these tapes know they're good. Type 2 tapes are disappearing, so they're getting pricey, and even at one, it's not a bad price. Just beware if you think you're getting two, you're not.5 stars for the product, minus one for the misleading photos.

This product, along with its upgrade, the II S, is highly recommended. Also, the equivalent TDK is highly recommended. The ATR Magnetics product is also of high quality and is a new product, still manufactured in the USA today. I like the sound of the Maxell or TDK the best though. Bias settings may be a factor. You may have to re-calibrate your deck for the ATS Magnetics product. The ATS Magnetic reel to reel tapes are excellent. I recently purchased some of these for my refurbished Sony R2R and they sound better than I have ever heard before. Unfortunately, the old Sony SLH tape degrades badly over time and should be replaced with something else. TDK or Maxell would be my preferences here also but the Ampex is supposedly excellent also although I have never tried these.

This tape must apparently be NOS as I'm pretty sure it's no longer in current production. The price is more expensive than I remember it was back in the early 80's. Considering the quality of the tape and how hard they are to buy these days I will say it's still worth the investment for those analog knuckleheads that refuse to give up using their cassette decks, myself included! I've yet to record anything onto this particular tape yet but it was packaged like new with all the original shrink wrap graphics. You can trust this seller as the item was perfect as described and promptly shipped, Thank You!

I have used these very fine Maxell XLii type 2 cassette tapes in the past recording from my cassette deck from the very late 1980s to the 1990s, and I have gotten excellent sound especially for the money. However, back then up to the late 1990s these Maxell type 2 cassettes were a bit less expensive.

I got this to create tape loops and splices. For general recording I prefer these Maxell type II tapes and have used them in my Tascam 4-track recorders since I was a teenager. For my purposes now it was easy to unscrew the case, cut up the tape, and close it back up to create an endless loop.Whether you’re looking to experiment with tape loops, are 4-tracking, or just recording to cassette in general this tape will give you a more crisp, less boomy or muffled sound compared to standard Type I cassettes. These are especially good for music and situations where clarity/high sound quality is important. And yes, every tape player will play or record these. No special equipment needed.

Just finished restoring an Akai GXC-709D and been buying tapes at goodwill and bought this higher end cassette to make some mix tapes and man, these cassettes really bring my old deck alive. I can't tell any difference between a tape and a CD crystal clear sound, zero hiss ( i did replace all the old transistors which helps). Will definitely be buying more.

Keeps stopping during recording and playback. It must be sticking because my other tape work fine on the same recorder.

This is an excellent tape. While the UR is good, the XLII definitely sounds better, more dynamics and treble. This is a ferro-cobalt tape.

I just recently got into the whole analog recording and audio thing so I won't say I have had a lot of experience with different manufacturers of cassettes and cassette types. I use a Technics RSB17W, which is not the highest-end tape deck out there but I got it for $9 at Goodwill. So far I have used Maxell UR90 Type I cassettes to record vinyl-to-cassette and also have run a line-in from my computer to record digital-to-cassette.I purchased this XLII Type II cassette to see if there really is a difference in the audio playback of the different types of tape material, and let me say, there is a big difference. I recorded an album (The Avett Brothers "I and Love and You") from my computer to an XLII as a test, and I'm not the biggest audiophile but there was near-lossless sound quality. I honestly couldn't tell a difference between playing it straight from iTunes or straight from the cassette. I'm curious what I could get out of a Type IV cassette but when I order one and do a recording, I'll definitely post a review.I'll surely purchase a few more Maxell XLII cassettes in the future.

A little on the pricey side for this type of dying technology. Especially when you could get these tapes five or six year ago for around $1.00 per tape or less for a 5 pack.

I have been buying Maxell XL II's for years, my car still has a built in cassette deck, so I make tapes for driving about, and I tell you for that purpose, you get the best sound. I like my highs to be bright and crisp and I can only get them on the XL-II High Bias tapes, I have a separate EQ from my Amp, so depending on the song and the original recording I can tweak the EQ and get the Crisp sound I want for my car's stereo. So depending on what you are buying this tape for, I will say for Music, I don't think there is anything better, and over the years I have tried them all.
