l have 3 connecting ponds by descending water falls, even though the waterfalls input oxygenation into the 3 ponds , l needed something to deliver the same input of oxygen during the winter months. These freezing cold months in Tennessee forces me to shut down the waterfalls to prevent damage of the pvc plumbing and pump running the waterfalls'. After careful investigation encompassing calling the engineers of the corporation who manufactures the Medo pumps in Japan l decided to buy the Medo LA-120 pump. a amazing pump, l additionally bought spare pistons as a back up that have yet to be used. l purchased the pump operating the 3 ponds with a 3way splitter 24/7 hours for over 15 years, l attached a air gage to monitor decreases of cfm's and it has yet to drop. This pump is remarkable . l did not buy this on amazon but now that amazon list them l without hesitation recommend the Medo pumps, I have not tried the other Medo pump models listed on amazon but lm 100% positive they are just as reliable as the Medo LA-120. Not sure how Amazon will post my review but they must find away to do so so others will read and understand how important it is to put trust in reliabilities of the Medo products manufacture in Japan, Are they manufacture in Japan today is a question l don't know but mine 15 years ago was and l just love it, I am a verified Amazon prime buyer for over 15 years. Up date, its now sept 27-2021, after careful monitoring the pressure gauge as this pump operates 3 connecting ponds , man made built ponds, everything is operating normal. cost is little over 2 dollars a month at 24/7 operate. This by far is the best economical piston operate pump on the market , that's my opinion. fill free to contact me foe further info needed on hose sizes and plumping fixtures l used as well the aeration system l used which after experimenting with many l chose to use a system that is awesome, built to last. my email in which l hope amazon will allow me to use in my updated post is mackfam1@bellsouth.net

Item must be rebuilt because the air flow does not make rated out put. Rebuilt may look new but cylinder walls are worn beyond repair . New seals pistons and gaskets will not fix worn cylinders

I purchase 4 Medo Air Pumps which I use for fish farming, THey all are quiet, reliable, energy eficient. I have owned other air pumps and can say that This Medo Compresors are a great buy. My oldes Medo Compresor a LA 120, has been working non stop since 2013. I clean the airfilter every 6 months.

I have the Medo LA-80, which is a smaller unit. I wanted a bit more output because my aerator is at a depth of 8ft so I bought the LA-120. From reading the specs, you'd think this is going to put out 50% more air. But not really. It's quiet, but noticeably louder than the LA-80. But there is very slight increase output at 8ft compared to it's smaller brother. If judging by itself, it's a great pump. Especially compared to the diaphragm pumps. But when compared to the smaller Medo 80...it's much more expensive, a bit noiser, yet doesn't put out that much more air.Update: OK, my Medo 120 pump failed...started rattling like crazy, and stopped working...The expected life is 5 years of continuous use...Mine was kept outside, well ventilated, and under a cover...shielded from direct sun or rain. So I thought I'd try to rebuild it.. my research lead me to a YouTube video by wholesale septic supply....basically they say there are fundamental problems with the 120 compared to the 80L...the 120 pumps into a plastic container, which the motor sits on...sure enough...mine has a crack in it. Looking closely at the design, no way these last 5 years. The constant vibration would eventually crack any flimsy plastic. Second...they don't recommend repairing these...the actual piston cylinder wears and even if you put in new piston and seals for $160...the wear on the piston cylinder wall makes it not possible to completely seal. You won't get the same performance as a new unit.So for $450 a pump should last more than 2 years...I'm giving it 1 star....maybe zero

I purchased a Medo air pump in 2007. It was put into use on my septic system immediately. It is still running as I write this review. So it has been running continuously now for 12 years. What more could you ask for from this pump. Best pump ever.

We replaced a two year old Hiblow HP-80 with this Medo LA-120.Several koi/pond bloggers wrote that Medo pumps were extra quiet, so we decided to try one. They were right; the particular Hiblow pump we had before was much louder than this larger Medo.I'll update this review if the Medo doesn't last, but I'm happy with less noise.
