Very Nice pin nailer. Metabo (formerly Hitachi) makes all my pneumatic guns. I wanted a battery operated pin nailer for installations so naturally I went here. Nothing to complain about. It handles well and sets perfectly after initial adjustment. Put's pins into oak without a hitch. I haven't run a ton of pins through it but no jams after a couple months of use. It's a bit heavy when you are used to air guns but way less heavy than a hose and compressor : ) Seems very sturdy. I haven't dropped it off a ladder yet (I will) but it looks like it will survive well. If you need a quality pin gun for your finish work this is a good one.

I mean, it's a metabo. Is it made in China? Yes. Is it still a metabo? Yes. No complaints so far.

This pin nailer is been working well for me the last month with no issues. The kit comes with everything you need, minus the nails. It has the stapler, battery, charger, and even safety glasses. It doesn''t feel cheap at all, and has fully driven 1" pin nails into pine.

It is my understanding the Metabo used to be Hitachi and I had a low gauge framing nailer from Hitachi that I like, so decided to give this a try. Its attributes include those listed in the “PROS” section above. It is very light weight and powerful enough for attaching trim pieces or securing 1/2’ or less panels for gluing. It has a tad bit more kickback than one gets with a pneumatic 23G nailer, but it is only perceivable if you are not tight gripping the unit. I have no problem nailing into oak with this nailer. The light is present, but is on the left side, which works for me since I am right handed. I really like this unit, it is small but packs a punch.PRECISE RATING: 4.25 (good at doing what I need, at least one exceptional characteristic, probably would buy again)RECOMMENDATION: I can recommend this nailer for finish work. It is light, safe and easy to use.(As always, I will report back if there are any durability or performance issues with additional use.)PHOTO INFO (photos are loaded in order, but may be rearranged when finally posted):1) Open shipping box2) Right side w/battery3) Left side w/battery4) Allen wrench storage5) Safety trigger6) Light7) Controls8) Weight w/ batteryI hope you found something informative and useful in this review. does not sink nails in oak. the item i got was already used and returned. I could tell it was returned because the battery was already connected to nail gun and the battery protecter was loose in the box. this review is for the 23-gauge metabo pin Nailer

I’ve used a Metabo pneumatic pin nailer for a couple years, so I was excited to try their 18v cordless version. Impressions out of the box is that it’s larger and heavier than my pneumatic pin nailer, but not as cumbersome as expected. It’s about the size and weight of a 16g pneumatic nailer. In my testing, the first time firing after a long pause I was able to get a fully driven nail, but if I tried to fire a second in sequence, I’d often have issues and get the nail significantly under driven. I think part of the issue is that the recoil was so strong that I was having trouble controlling the nailer.Overall, if you really need a cordless nailer, this is lightweight and could work well under the right conditions, especially if you’re willing to take it slow. However, I find pin nailers most useful in a shop environment where a compressor is often handy, and think I’ll be sticking with my pneumatic pin nailer instead. For an entry level woodworker, I’d still recommend a compressor and pneumatic nailer when starting out as I find them more forgiving and easier to use.

The Metabo will accept 23-gauge pins with a minimum size of 5/8” or 16 mm, and a maximum size of 1 3/8” or 35 mm. The kit comes with the nailer, charger, 1 18V battery, eye protectors, battery cover, built-in hex wrench, instructions and a belt clip. No 23-gauge pins are included and they recommend Metabo pins, but I used the Grex pins that I already had with no issues. The Metabo nailer with battery and some pins loaded weighs 4 lb 6.5 oz, so not too heavy when you’re pinning for a while. The lock lever is conveniently located in the hand grip and is easy to unlock while you have your hand on the grip of the nailer. The LED light is on the left side of the nailer and illuminates the left side, so it’s setup more for right handed people. It’s quiet. I’m so used to my other pin nailer that uses a compressor, which of course makes a good amount of noise and I have to drag the hose along as well. This nailer makes a bare minimum of noise and there’s no hose. The trade-off is that there’s only one battery, but it’ll do a lot of work before recharging is necessary. Plus, I could always purchase a backup battery.Overall I’m happy with this pin nailer and just like my compressor nailer, it makes a pin size hole that is hard to see. If you’re going to paint the surface, no filler is necessary, just paint it.
