With WDT tools being mainstream, what else could one possibly do in between basic metal knobs with a few acupuncture needles sticking out and wildly complicated Moonraker-style orbital options? Why, you could make a WDT tool feel like a switchblade, of course.This thing is both sort of silly, but also charming and probably my favorite WDT tool to date. It does exactly what any other basic WDT tool does, but every part of its core operation is just simply satisfying. From pressing the button and having the needles fall out with a satisfying 'clunk' from gravity, to twisting the barrel to spread the needles out, to turn it upside down to watch the needles retreat back where they came from with a similarly enjoyable hefty click.It's got heft and it's made entirely out of metal – mostly anodized aluminum. It looks nice enough, but I'll say the same thing I say about every MHW-3BOMBER product: the name is terrible (and the story sounds made-up and doesn't help — Make Heart Warm 3 and they want to 'bomb' coffee tradition? Right...) and impossible to remember, and the logo doubles down on this by repeating this nonsensical name in a very large and messy logo that looks like an online name and logo generator made it. The logo is at least a bit more hidden on my silver model, but I actually prefer the look of the black if it weren't for the logo. Does this affect my coffee? No. But part of the joy of gourmet coffee is also how things make you feel, and appearance is a part of that whether we like to admit it or not.Aside from the superficial issues, the only other complaint I have is that the needles seem easier to accidentally bend than other tools I've used, and if you bend one too much, the tool will not function properly until replaced since they have to slide in and out of the holes. And changing the needles to get them to line up with those holes can be a real pain. The needles are also very bendy (to help with the twisting spread function) and they are shorter than standard needles I've seen before.The tool does come with an adhesive-backed magnet you can place anywhere to stick the tool to it if you like. That's a nice touch.

As long as you don't try to replace the prongs/take this little gadget apart, this is a great and easy to use WDT tool. (And as an espresso enthusiast with ADHD I have loved fidgeting with this WDT tool). It has a little button that drops the prongs down quickly, you twist the base and it locks them into place while also making the prongs take on the better cone shape. They're the perfect length for me. Not too long for me, but potentially a bit short for others. After your finished distributing, you simply twist the base back and flip the tool upside down and they go right back up where a magnet keeps them in place. I took off one star because I feel the price is $10-15 too high and that the materials could be better for the price. However, it is great and does its job well.The only problem I had was when I was messing around with it and took it apart. This is the same thing you would do to replace the prongs and it felt nearly impossible to get done, at least for me.

I have to be honest, there's a bit of me that feels like there's a whole load of emperor’s new clothes about the various bits of paraphernalia for making espresso. I like coffee, I like it a lot, but maybe my palate just isn't cultured enough so notice the difference between a coffee made with a WDT tool or one made without it. That said, for now at least, I'm prepared to buy into the idea that using this makes my coffee taste better.There's no question that this is a very nicely machined tool. It oozes quality, there is something very aesthetically pleasing about the design. As others have mentioned it is a complete faff to put together, threading each of the wire needles through the holes in the guide takes ages and the patience of a saint, and having finally achieved it I dread the day that I might need to repeat the process. There may be a knack to it that I am not familiar with, but if there is the manufacturers don't want you to know about it.Once it's all put together it seems to work very nicely, the needles drop neatly at the push of the button and with a slight twist are locked in place due to friction. A reverse twist and a flick of the wrist later and the wires are neatly stowed away. It really is a design masterpiece.Is it worth the money? I'm not sure I'm well placed to judge that, it seems excessively expensive for what it does, but if this sort of tool is important to you then you are probably prepared for the premium price. I can't fault what it does and how it does it.

This is great for distributing coffee. Having 8 needles means it reaches a large surface area and makes the process quicker than other, smaller devices. The needles appear at the push of a button and retract easily too. It does come with replacement parts and while I'm sure it's fiddly to change it's nice to have the option.Using this has definitely improved my morning coffee and it's now an indispensable tool to me!

This tool has 8 pins that you can deploy by pressing the button on the top and retract again by turning upside down. It decreases how long it takes to distribute out the coffee grounds, and I think this is due to both how many pins there are and how widely you can spread them (both are better than on the previous device I used). In all, much more streamlined and a better-quality device than others I have tried!It also comes with replacement parts so it will last a while. There is even a magnet so you can store it on the coffee machine itself. As it looks quite industrial, it looks almost like a part of the coffee machine if you do! It's not too heavy and is easy to use and does its job well. For how easy it is to use, I would say it is worth the price for the convenience it offers.

The pretty stiff needles work great, better than the previous WDT I hade that uses standard acupuncture needles that bend too easily. Also, I love the click and twist mechanism. After use I brush away powder that sticks to the needles and quickly stow away the tool without any mess in my cupboard.

Hey y’all, I wanted to go and say absolutely love this espresso tool so much. This is one of the best things I’ve used in a really long time. I love that fact I don’t have to poke my self with my WDT needles. I love the fact that this is retractable. Big fan of the magnet so I could stick it right on my espresso machine.

This is a very well designed WDT tool. I bought this one and the Subminimal Flick - the Subminimal got returned since there was too much plastic and the needles were thicker than the MHW-3BOMBER. The MHW-3BOMBER is all aluminum build and feels very premium in the hand. Value for money is top notch.
