The product that was recommended was twice the price , when you could get it . I found this on Amazon .Since I have been using this I . I have no problems, now put some (a 1/4 cup in all my drains monthly) thought why not try it? I was amazed, it smelled just as bad as the other! The upside is it is 1/2 the price and you get 2 bottles, plus, it is safe to use.

I just received and used one bottle of this product so I don't know how effective/how it will actually work -- I purchased it for maintenance (not for a problem). The item description states "A little odor is released upon application and is gone in minutes." What a fib! It is foul smelling and the majority of my house now smells like a sewage treatment plant and has for HOURS -- not minutes as stated. I have sprayed with air freshener (several times) and it still smells awful. Hoping that it will finally be gone by morning time.

I have been using this product for 20-years in my Septic tank. I can’t say if this is the best product, but it is recommended by the two of the septic tank pumper companies that I have used. It has kept my septic tank trouble-free.

The "Pleasant fragrance" described on the bottle was thought up by someone with damaged olfactory senses. My package came with no problems. It wasn't broken, leaking. However, when I first removed the cap, the God-awful smell assaulted me. Figuring maybe it will do better when in the tank, I poured the recommended 2-4ozs into my RV bathroom sink. It came out like black ooze from some Sci-Fi program. I had to scrub the sink to clean the residue. The next day when I drained my tank, the smell was worse than if I didn't use this product. Called Amazon and after several minutes got a refund. The rep (excellent Customer Service rep Daniel) I spoke with also had to convince his superior NOT to have me return the product (as it was open). All's well, I got a refund and threw the 30ozs left in the bottle away.

This bottle of shock treatment happened to arrive on the same day that we had scheduled for our septic tank to have a maintenance cleaning completed - great timing to see what a pro would think of this product. I let our guy read the bottle and asked him a few questions, and he said this would be a good product to help maintain a healthy septic tank. WIth all the antibacterial cleaners used in houses that get washed into septic tanks - bleach, toilet cleaner, Lysol, hand and dish soaps, body washes, etc. - septic tanks can struggle to keep a productive colony of bacteria to break down waste. He said products like this work to counter those effects which keeps his services from being needed as frequently, and that adding it now to a newly cleaned out tank is a great way to get the bacteria set up ahead of the game. It was nice to know that we weren't doing any damage to our septic system by adding this. Since there isn't any mention of how often the product should be used to treat a septic system, this was one of the questions we asked. His recommendation? Use a good monthly treatment to maintain a good bacterial count, use a shock treatment like this once a year as a 'boost', avoid using anti-bacterial products as much as possible, have the tank pumped every two or three years.Once he left, I went inside and poured this down one of the toilets. I was pleasantly surprised there was no smell to this at all. We've used monthly treatments in little water dissolvable pouches as well as in liquid form, and often they come with a faint odor of sweaty shoes. The bright blue color of this liquid was kind of alarming, but it didn't leave any residue on the bowl or require multiple flushes to ensure it all goes down. There isn't a no-splash pour spout, so I really recommend pouring the contents out slowly while holding the bottle close to the water in the toilet to avoid any splashes that could spread stainable dropletsProducts like this are difficult to review because you can't really observe the product doing what it is supposed to do. It's not like shampoo or baby wipes where you can see and experience immediate results. We feel okay using this product after running it by a professional who sees firsthand what happens when septic systems aren't kept up properly. Septic system repairs are horrendously expensive, especially if you have to have a tank replaced. And no one wants to go through their septic system backing up into their house! A product like this is an effective and inexpensive way to prevent thousands of dollars in repairs. I can't give this five stars without knowing how things will shake out in a few years when we have our tank cleaned out again and can verify results, but it is a product I feel comfortable recommending as a way to prevent future trouble.
