A top-mount intercooler upgrade is a great way to equip your flat-four with a cool charge of air! A cool, dense charge of air can allow for more aggressive tuning and increased power. The Mishimoto Top-Mount Intercooler for Subaru WRX/STI 2001-2007 provides a unique option for upgrading your charge air system. This top-mount intercooler kit utilizes a single entry inlet compared to the stock Y-pipe setup. This unique tank design provides maximum airflow and superior air dispersion through the core, a process which results in optimal AIT reduction. This top-mount intercooler uses a high efficiency bar-and-plate core which provides increased volume and improved heat transfer. The kit is completely bolt-on, requiring zero modifications to your vehicle. The Mishimoto top-mount intercooler kit includes silicone bypass hoses for both the WRX and STI, a silicone crankcase ventilation hose, a bypass valve gasket, a silicone throttle body hose, and all the T-bolt clamps and hardware necessary for installation. This top-mount intercooler kit has endured rigorous testing on both stock and modified vehicles and has proven to increase power and reduce air intake temperatures. On our 305 hp test vehicle running 20-22 psi of boost, this intercooler provided a 14 hp increase and a 30F drop in AITs compared to the stock STI TMIC for more testing details, check out the engineering report! This intercooler is a really good design. I’ve installed a 950$ Process West on my past 2010 forester and put 60k miles on it but just slapping this one on the 2007 FXT in an hour and a half max, I was more impressed with its design and flow performance than the PW.The design as you can see takes away the Y configuration of the stock FXTWRX & STI units. It charges from the cool side with an S shaped beefy” silicone hose.( doesn’t rub on anything and good clearance from the heat shield) The T style hose clamps fit good and snug unlike some mishimoto kits you have probably seen in reviews. You will have to reuse your BOV stock hose clamps. (When installing BOV, mark the BOV and hose with a sharpie and once you get ithe BOV off transfer the hose mark to the new hose, the new hose fit is Tight after you the BOV on there. Turning it once the intercooler is on is a pain so just do this step to save the hassle. If you just twist the BOV when installing ,,I saw there is a chance to flex and restrict the hose flow. So one shot it and mark it.The kit comes with two BOV hoses. One is for an STI left side direction BOV nozzle set up, the other is for a WRX/FXT right side direction BOV. So you will have a BOV hose as extra to not use when done.There isn’t an install video for this unit but if you are confident enough to get the stock unit off, you’re mechanically inclined enough to do this install.Steps I used installing. (WD40 is your friend when installing hoses)1 take off old TMIC , BOV/hose at the inlet boot and the stock metal vent tube that runs in front of the old IC.2 mark the position of the BOV on the Valve and old hose. Take BOV and clamps off the hose. Now lay the new hose over the old one and transfer the mark by eye and install BOV and clamp. Pre install the other clamp 1” further and face the clamp tabs upwards so install will be easier. Slid the other end of the BOV hose on the turbo inlet and clamp it. (Make sure you put the hose back on the Throttle body that you had to move to get old BOV hose out)3 Connect the S hose on the turbo.(give yourself a good 1&1/2” clearance above the turbo shield when positioning and fastening it.)4 Reuse old rubber grommets from the old IC mounting points and put them on the new IC mounting tabs. Also, mount the 3” hose on the intercooler and tighten the T clamp ,getting it ready to slide on and install to the throttle body.5 Slide your 3” T clamp loosely on the Throttle body. Now install the new IC on the throttle body and slide the clamp on once you get the hose over the lip a half inch or so. Then tighten it once seated. Now go install the other end of the S hose and install the mounting screws. (Almost done now🤙)6 Now,, install supplied plastic straight nipple into the right side old vent line that the metal tube use to run through (the one that ran across the front of old IC) . Now install the new 1/2” id supplied silicone line to that. Next,, install the supplied T to the other side and the other two old vent lines the metal tube ran to on the left.7 Make sure you hooked your vacuum line back up to the BOV👌🏻. And make sure everything is clamped ,screwed and tight.Now go out and rumble rumble PSSST around the block and come back and check everything once more. Congrats 🤙One would figure that Mishimot would make a video on the installation since they didn’t include instructions but with the price/build quality and performance 💁🏻‍♂️ I’ll forgive and still give it 5 ⭐️

The combined set up of the stock inlet, cobb intake, vf48 turbo and cobb DP with this intercooler is phenomenal. Can definitely sense a cooler charge and the increase in power. Easy to install, easy to replace the BPV hoses and looks beautiful. Could not ask for a better top mount intercooler than this.

So far this has been a great install. Because of the curved hose going to the turbo and the long mount holes, I thought it was easier to install than the OEM intercooler. This is the same product you would get directly from Mishimoto at a better price. I have not had a chance to make any tuning adjustments for it yet, but so far so good. Since this is wider than stock I plan to get a new scoop shroud. Not sure if the all come with it but I got a Chilly the penguin air freshener in mine.

I will give it a 3 star because I am unable to install it at the moment because the mishimoto radiator I got was completely twisted. Not from this seller but a different one. But from a visual inspection it looks really nice. Can't wait till I install it.

2004sti great fit with stock turbo heat shield but I wasn't able to use the spt heat shield, spt front strut brace does fit though.

Good fitment. Takes a lot longer to heat soak over oem intercooler. Under boost temps are about 15-20 degrees cooler.
