Next to safety glasses these are necessary like a push stick, but for your miter saw! A cheap stick that saves digits! If I cut this on accident, I'm getting another.

The dowel rod on this tool is tough. The rubbery/plastic to hold stock in place on the table saw and miter saw has given me greater comfort in making tough cuts and I highly recommend this push stick. The grip on it is good. I like how it functions as a solid hold down and is designed to do what it was made for.

Clever design, allowing downward pressure on workpieces while keeping hands clear of the blade. Works pretty good with the miter saw though if yours is on a stand like mind you may have to get creative with finding a sturdy support for the far end of the stick, which is safer than just holding pressure on the two points of the wishbone end. This could also be useful holding down small items on a crosscut sled if yours is wide enough to allow the far end to make the third point of contact... mine is not for my portable contractor saw. After my first use of the stick I didn't spend much time woodworking for several weeks. My next time out to the garage discovered the stick coated in saw dust which reduced the stickiness of the rubber feet and also the hand hold. The feet were very easy to clean off though the rubber cap on the end and the hand grip were stickier. My one concern with this stick is the adjustable hand hold sliding in use. The pressure from my grip causes the hand hold to grip the wooden handle. I will be sure to dust off the wood portion before moving the rubber hand hold to prevent saw dust from accumulating in there and reducing the ability of the inside of the hand hold to grip the wood. One of the things I enjoy about woodworking is using the small set of skills I have combined with the tools I've accumulated to problem solve my way to a complete project. This tool will allow me to use precision motorized tools on smaller parts where I may have had to hand saw with significant sanding with out it.

This hold down stick seems to be the latest safety tool to be trending as a must-have piece of safety equipment. And I can see why.I really like that this tool places my hand further away from the blade while being so simple to use. It's especially great to have for working on smaller pieces that would place your hand close to the blade.I liked how this version of the hold down stick is made of wood. Not only does it give it a rather elegant look, but it also means that I can get a better grip on the wood instead of the smooth plastic that other brands are made of. It also means that if by chance the stick gets broken (someone steps on it, for example) that I can disassemble it to replace the dowel portion of the stick.Overall, I really like this tool. It will allow me to work more safely and let me expand the types of cuts I can make since I won't have to worry about placing my hands so close to a blade while trying these new cuts.

I tested this on the miter saw with a small piece, and it did better than I expected. In the interest of testing, I cut the piece progressively smaller until I had a "fail". When the piece got too small, the saw tried to pull it in, but the stick maintained control and avoided a kickback. This doesn't have as much use for a table saw, except that I would occasionally use it as a handheld "feather board" to hold the outfeed side of the board while pushing the infeed side with a proper push stick.

It provides great stability and control while cutting, and the rubber feet really help reduce vibrations for a smoother experience. The gripping surface ensures my hands stay safe and secure, giving me peace of mind during each cut.
