The standard of measure in my household for a quality knife is versatility, and this slicing knife, as it is called, exceeds expectations. While designed for large cuts of meat, it has tackled more delicate and frustrating tasks with ease; this is, in addition to the large cuts of meat. The sharpness is impressive, the handle is comfortable, and the blade thickness is just right. To test its capabilities, I used it on apples, tomatoes, and corn on the cob—three foods that often present challenges. This knife handled all three effortlessly, thanks to its sharp, long blade. In fact, with the tomatoes in particular, the blade outperformed many other knives; the length, more than the thickness, contributed to its success. It’s a well-balanced, highly effective knife, and I’m happy to recommend it.

This is a beautiful knife. the olive wood handle is beautiful and the whole knife has a great look. It is very sharp and has so far held it's edge quite nicely. It is well balanced and gives you precise control and feels great in hand. It also came in a very presentation/gift box which is perfect for storage also. This is a very well made, high value knife that anyone would be happy to use and proud to own.

I absolutely _love_ the gorgeous olive wood handle on this meat knife. The packaging is quite impressive and definitely gift worthy. (Check out some of the pics and videos.) As far as using the knife? It's quite long and feels awkward to me. I used it to slice a cold, cooked chicken and it was okay. While the metal is German and the name is Japanese, this knife is made in China. I think I'll go with the advice of my chef friend though. He says all you really need is a good chef's knife for all the things.

Well made, very sharp! Works super well. Love having a real slicing knife instead of using my regular kitchen knife ... makes my cuts look like a pitmaster instead of a hack!

This slicing knife arrives elaborately packaged in an Asian-like style. When unboxed, the product is a close-fitting bag. Pulling the box from the bag, the knife is in another elegant box. We found the knife slices our home made sourdough loafs with ease and and some veggies as well. The blade is light weight and well-balanced by the attractive handle. A great buy and gift.

This is another work of art from the cutlery of Japan. Excellent weight and balance, olive wood handle is beautiful and perfectly formed to the hand. The combination of the razor sharp edge and the exceptional control allows precise slicing, right down to paper thin.As others have mentioned, it is an obvious choice for roasts, briskets, and other big cuts of meat, but it is also great for precision cuts of veg and fruits. A vegan cook would be just as pleased with this knife as any BBQ pit champ.Nicely presented in a very classy package, a perfect gift item. A GREAT cutlery value at the listed price. HIGHLY recommended!

I like to cook variety of stews cutting the meat into small pieces myself. One of my wife's favorite stews is the Szegedi goulash with a sauerkraut. In order to be perfect, the meat needs to be pork shoulder, and you might know that it is not easy to be cut, especially if you buy it as one piece with the bone. We have variety of knives, and I tried all of them. None of them was fully satisfactory and I often accompanied my cutting with cursing and irritating my itching hand. Not with this one. This knife is so well engineered and so sharp that I have feeling like it would cut the meat almost just by itself. Made out of the German steel it is incredibly sharp and can be stored safely. However, it comes with the nice box, and you can store your new knife in it, if you want. It is special indeed.
