So far this is a good unit, very good range. It took a day to install but worked the first time I tried it. I will not say its easy to install but quite doable. If you can follow basic directions you can do this. Read the whole packet, that you can print out from the bar code that will be provided for your specific vehicle, before you start. Figure out where everything needs to go, the routing of the wires and mounting of the modules. I used the Ttaps. In my opinion this type of terminal connector is ok when used in a dry place. Some will say that soldering is the only way to go but then the taping of all the connections, to make sure nothing can ground out, is hard in the middle of a 20 wire harness. The trick to using the Ttaps is to use the right gauge for the matching wire gauge. To small a Ttap and you will cut into too much of the wire, to big a Ttap and it wont make connection. I had to buy a small kit of them to complete the job. I checked the continuity of every connection I made before I moved on to the next one. A basic understanding of DC electricity will be helpful. Not all of the places that the directions tell you to find your wires are right. For instance the main connector for the marker light was not where they said it was and i never could find it but just tapped into the circuit at the light switch. My insulation was simple I only did the starter (with the marker lights to let me know its running) no door locks or valet mode switch but i did install the hood safety switch. My old starter just had the shut off on a switch under the dash you can do it that way too. I did not have to use the TECH support people but others have said its good. I ordered my unit with the simple one button fob. My only suggestion is to be very careful with the two wires that you have to splice into to over ride the PATS system (Ford) don't want to mess that up, its a pretty bullet proof system as far as trying to by-pass it. If you don't have a chipped key than the install is that much easier, if you do then you do need two factory keys like they say. For 1/4 to 1/3 of the cost to have it done it well worth it and I know I did a better install than any shop would have. Good luck, don't be scared !

My local audio shop referred me to this kit cause I was wanting a remote start on my truck. Anyway I ordered it and dropped the truck off to them with the kit and 5 hours later I get a call. The connector on the key override is extremely loose and the crime stopper box is completely dead. He said the crimestopper box (main controller) won’t activate and has called the company for troubleshooting. So after paying $410 to have them install it they take it all back apart so I can send it back. Go to my local Amazon drop off and I’m told the original box is tore and the wires have been cut and it’s deemed unreturnable. Great, I’m out $500+ and all I have is a broken unit. Buyer beware

This remote start kit is great i love it it was definitely a bit more challenging to install but the instructions they give u are very useful if you are putting this on a 2008 ford f150 MAKE SURE U HAVE TO FACTORY KEYS IF U DONT GET ONE MADE AND PROGRAMED BY A FORD DEALER if u can’t afford the dealership’s program costs get it programmed from a lock smith but definitely get the key cut from a Ford dealership that was the only problem i had with mine after i got the second key made a programed it worked great

MPC tech support was great, and very patient. They called me and emailed me several times during my installation process.Even though the 13-page documentation is quite thorough, here are some tips and reminders:1) The documentation says the vehicle should remote start without connecting the KOALL but only if the key is sitting in the ignition. That was not the case with my 2006 F150. With a mis-programmed KOALL, it would not remote start at all, even with the key in the ignition.2) Waiting 3 seconds between each programming step did not work for me, even after several attempts. It finally worked for me when I watched the security light instead.3) The documentation emphasizes that you need to hear clicks when selecting the option # being programmed. What it does not specify, is that you will hear 1 click when selecting choice #1, 2 for choice #2, 3 for 3 and 4 for 4. Knowing this would have helped confirm that I was successfully changing the desired option.4) My remotes have 4 buttons - lock, unlock, vehicle selector, and start. When programming options 1-31, only the lock and unlock buttons will work to select choice #1 or choice #2. There is no way to select choice #3 or #4 using my remotes, even when pressing them for several seconds.5) I had issues with my brake connection. I was told that the remote start should still start while the brake wire was disconnected. That was not the case with my F150. When the brake wire was disconnected, the dash lights flashed once during a remote start, but then immediately shut off.6) After connecting each t-tap to a wire in the vehicle, test the t-tap to make sure the tap pierced the plastic, and is actually touching the wires inside. For example, the t-tap for the ignition wire should get 12.5 volts when the key is turned to on/accessory.7) To turn off the remote starter, you can press the brake pedal. But if you haven't connected that wire yet, just "remote start" the vehicle again, and it will shut off.8) Since the programming button should never be needed again, it seems silly to drill a hole to mount it. So I just taped the 2 wires together in a small loop, left it connected to the remote starter, and zip tied the wire bundle along with the remote starter itself.9) Range. The range of the remote is awesome. I park in the very last parking spot at work, in a parking lot big enough to hold 400 vehicles. The remote has started the vehicle every time, even from the length of a football field.
