The plug-and-play starter was relatively easy to install, but I only have Apple computers, so I had to go to the city library to download the firmware on a computer with Windows. It took a phone call to tech support to discover that my 2017 Jeep Renegade apparently has some 2018 security components, so it required a different firmware download. Once that was straightened out, the starter has worked great.

Honestly, I was skeptical. Total plug and play unit? Almost.Bought this for my wife’s 2016 Chrysler 200s..the guide seemed somewhat straight forward before I headed out to the garage. I will say the step by step guide is mostly intuitive..Here are the issues I experienced:1. Taking the car dash apart to access the starter module was harder than the entire installation. That sucker is BACK there, make sure you’ve got someone with skinny arms and wrists. I couldn’t find any guides online for taking the dash and instrument console apart online for the 2015-2017 Chryslers..so I just winged it, please be cautious that those cheap plastic crappy clips will just break off that snap the pieces together for the bezels, but hey, it’s a Chrysler..not a Toyota!2. The USB module was a bit weird..I plugged it into the laptop I had in the garage and it kept throwing errors at the software screen complaining about updating firmware but there are no firmware updates to apply! plugged it into a more powerful gaming laptop and it did the same..finally plugged it into my old junk desktop and it actually worked..running windows 10.3. Obviously, I wanted the parking lights to come on when remote starting the 200. This was a bit annoying, in the guide this is referenced as a “tap on” connection, which makes it sound like they provide something in the box to tap into the wire..nope. I had to do some splitting and manually connecting the two wires together to establish a connection. I have experience in this so it wasn’t too bad, but you definitely want to proceed with caution when cutting into wires.All in all, it works great when it’s installed, there’s some caveats, but it’s pretty amazing to me that i installed remote start in a car in under 2 hours never having experience in remote start systems. I didn’t ever reach out to tech support for assistance but from what I read they seemed like they would have been responsive

Actually bought this as a Xmas gift for my father in law and his new (used) car and planned to install myself. Unfortunately as I attempted to install we discovered there was already a similar divide installed which he was unaware of so we left that one.I have installed these in two of my wife’s previous vehicles. And they were great. My only complaint with this one was the need to splice a wire for the parking lights to activate when the vehicle starts for some reason. The unit we found in my FIL’s car had a parking light Y on the harness. Not that splicing is difficult but you can’t argue that simply plugging in is easier.

Product works as it should! I ordered the incorrect kit, rather then send it back they gave me help in resetting the firmware and I uploaded proper program! It took a bit of tech support, however it is up and running now! A bit frustrating waiting on an email while I was in the middle of install, but overall a little patience and we are all good! Unit was installed quickly once you get all the connectors located, I only had to splice into one wire, it is nearly all plug n play! I’ve already ordered/received another kit for a different vehicle!

I installed this product on my 2018 Jeep Compass in under an hour. It was literally plug and play. I could easily reach the ignition switch connector from the bottom access of the dash board. Very convenient addition to my vehicle living in the pacific north west because the weather here is so unpredictable and it is nice to have my car warm/cool depending on the day. I did not like the “lock, unlock, lock” sequence I had to do from my keyfob because it was so easy to miss one button and not have it start. I went ahead and got the smartphone add on to avoid this issue and now I can start my car without even seeing it from anywhere. That took only 15 minutes to install. Very satisfied with this product!
