I really liked being able to order such a long roll of jute in a sufficient diameter to use on various projects for my cats. They are really hard primarily on the carpet-covered posts of their furniture. When it was apparent that the vertical carpet was always the shortest-lived, we removed all of the post carpet on their new furniture and re-wrapped all of them in a thick, sisal rope instead. This actually worked much better for a long while. However, over time they have managed to tear up a lot of the sisal as well, and now it needs to be replaced. So this is where this new roll of jute will be put to use.The jute arrived in a plastic bag, and the rope was held together in a roll by three different pieces of strapping bands (used in shipping). If you have anything round and cylindrical that can fit through the middle of the roll it would be really helpful in keeping the rope more organized as it is pulled off for use. Otherwise, it can end up becoming tangled and take up a lot of your time to straighten out. One reviewer said that he used a cut section of PVC pipe, and another said she had a hard cardboard cylinder leftover from another product that worked for her. Also be aware that the rope may have an off odor upon removing it from the plastic bag. A lot of rope from overseas made from natural materials often does. I am happy to report that the rope I received had just a minimal amount of odor, and after sitting in the box without the plastic bag overnight the odor was mostly gone. The way I knew the rope was OK is because one of my cats was so interested in the roll, he was playing with a length of the rope hanging over the edge of the box. Soon that was not enough for him and he jumped inside the box to sit right next to the big roll. That told me all I needed to know because cats are very sensitive to scents. If it were offensive to any of my cats they would not go near the rope at all. It passed the test and now the re-roping project can get underway.

I got this to make for my cousin who loves highland cows and wanted garland. I thought this was the cutest way to do it and I was right. Now it can be used as packing string, or another craft, but the garland made with this feels solid. This jute feels like it could strangle the Christmas tree and not break a sweat. I was able to get larger beads and cow shaped beads on this with ease. I did use an extra large needle to help the process along, but it works to do it the old fashioned way. This is the perfect color for that country rustic style anything.

I am so happy I got this jute twine! It is strong and thick and it is just the right size to be practical for everyday projects. I am also happy that I got the longer length. My only complaint is that after about a third of the rope length, they spliced the rope together to make it longer and then covered that with tape. That splice wasn't as flexible and caused me issues. However, I still recommend this rope and and happy with it.

The large roll is wonderful. I got it to re-rope an antique straightback chair seat, but there's enough for that and lots of other crafts. Next is a "basket" made from a box that I'll wrap this around, gluing as it goes. I get a pretty woven jute basket, exactly the size I need, at a price that can't be beat! I love that the roll is so compact; it's easy to have on hand, but never seems to run out. It's heavy, but mounted on a table with an anchored dowel rod to hold it in place it's one of the handiest tools in my craft room. The 8mm diameter's a little large to use for tying presents, so I'm ordering the smaller size for that. That size will have even more uses. I can't believe I haven't had this on hand before now. I don't want to ever be without such a versatile and handy tool!
