I was excited to standardize our kombucha making and simplify knowing when each batch was just right, but I don't think these test strips are quite the magic answer I was hoping for. The different colors of green you try to match to are SO close it's basically impossible to know which number to go with among 4 or 5 choices. You have to be satisfied worth a pretty general idea of acidity (within the 'range') rather than trying to narrow it down to the tenths place. They are still useful but just not what I was hoping for.

I was planning on using these to test my home canned vegetables. However, when I tested them separately on vinegar and gravy, they both came out the same Kelly green color, which isn’t even a choice on the bottle’s scale. Vinegar is much more acidic than gravy so it appears these strips are not accurate.

I’m not sure if it works. As another person said, mine was bright green. This is my first time making kombucha so I was excited to have a little security blanket that I was doing it right. But nothing matched.

I got these test strips to fine tune my Kombucha making process. I thought they would give me a method to obtain good solid feedback as to the condition of my brewing. However, it hasn’t turned out that way so far.The first thing I noticed about the range of the strip color matching chart is that it was not that broad. From ph 0 to 6 there is not that much difference in the shade of colors shown. (I am NOT color blind at all.) Brownish green to brownish black is not much difference to choose from. I wonder if the product label printers had a problem with the label ink?Secondly, I did a test on my Kombucha and found it to be bright green. (Better than a 6.0+ ph) This was way off of anything on the matching chart. So, I did a test with White Vinegar to test the strips. It too was a nice green indicating 6.0+ ph again. Hmm?? (White Vinegar should be around 2.5 ph)Lastly, I did a test on Hydrochloric Acid. I found it to be brown and showing about a 1.5 ph according to the color match chart. (Hydrochloric Acid shout be about 0-1 ph.)So, I either have bad strips or a bad color matching chart but something isn’t coming out right. Therefore, I find these strips unusable for my purpose and would not recommend them.See the pictures for yourself and decide.

Convenient pH test strips in smaller packs within the bottle. This separation of packaging helps prevent contamination of all the strips at once.I'm not sure if these work, however. The color always comes out the same no matter how much acid I am adding to my batch of kombucha--a bright green that doesn't seem to match any of the colors on the legend.

This takes the guess work out of my fermenting. I wish I had purchased these a long time ago.

As a regular Kombucha brewer, these strips are very useful to figure out when to bottle a brew or add supplemental glucose. As the bacteria in your brew eat the sugar in the sweet tea, they produce acetic acid as waste– which increases the acidity of the solution. This acidity can be a desirable flavor in moderation but it also will kill the bacteria overtime, leading to lack of carbonation during the anaerobic fermentation phase.Back to the product, this is a high quality product: strips are individually wrapped, the label is printed well with the color chart easy to read. If you're looking to master the nuance of Kombucha brewing, I can definitely recommend this product as it will help up your game.

I got this to check the ph of my sourdough starter and my fermented mustard seeds. It seems to mostly work, but sometimes comes up with a color of green that I can't find on the comparison chart on the bottle. The bottle comes divided into several vacuum sealed packages, not one, not two, but many, which is fantastic for freshness and something you don't see often in test strips of any kind. Definitely an A+ for the extra effort at freshness. I will continue to use to help me with my countertop science projects!
