This works for the intended purpose, I will say that you most likely have to make a separate purchase for a 1.25" t adapter since this doesn't come with one, if you have another Neewer adapater that came with it though that same one should fit this as it worked for me.

I bought this to replace my lost official T ring. This performs and looks just the same. I have several T adapters, including a flattener, all with standard 42mm thread which screws several rotations into this T ring just fine.My usual chain for my deep space astrophotography is: Skywatcher Equinox 80 -> Flattener (includes eyepiece barrel with 42mm thread) -> T-Ring -> Canon 650DFor planetary astrophotography: Celestron Nexstar 8SE -> 2" visualback -> 2" T-Adapter -> T-Ring -> Canon 650D.

I have a bunch of old M42 thread camera lenses from the 60s and 70s, but no camera that can use them. When I saw this adapter had M42 threads, I took a chance to see if I could use some of that classic old glass on my digital or film cameras.Alas, it didn’t work. While the adapter is designed to use on a NIkon camera, the depth of the flange-to-sensor is wrong and I couldn’t get it to focus with my Yashica 50m f/1.4 M42-mount lens at any distance or focal length. A complete bust.Since it’s designed for a telescope mount, my guess is the design is optimized for that. But if you’re looking at this to use old M42-mount glass on a Nikon, save your money.

Full disclosure - I received this product as a member of the Amazon VINES review program. The comments and opinions are based on my knowledge of similar products and experience using the product listed.I am getting involved in astrophotography and to start with I purchased a Canon DSLR camera. I am purchasing my equipment to go with the DSLR and one item I found I was going to need was a T-Ring adapter like this one to allow me to mate my DSLR to a telescope. I looked at several different T-rings on the market and determined what I needed and this one will work for my needs. It fits snugly to the Canon without any force to lock it in place nor any slop once locked in. The T-ring is a 2 piece item, with one half of it mounting to the Canon like a lens does (twist and lock) while the other half has the industry standard M42x0.75 threads which allow mating to various telescopes.Like I said, I am just getting started in astrophotography so I don't have a telescope to mate the T-ring too but the threads appear to be clean cut. Another adapter ring I have is a M42 to M48 size adapter and it screws into the M42 side of this T-ring smoothly and solidly so I see no reason to suspect that it would not do the same for a telescope interface. The T-ring is made of solid black anodized aluminum alloy with matte interiors to prevent reflections and lens flaring. All in all, I am pleased with this item and would recommend you look at it if you're needing a T-Ring for your Canon camera.

I do a lot of astronomy outreach and astrophotography with various telescopes and Canon DSLRs. I got this Nikon T-ring so I can share with people that have Nikons. I’m impressed. It seems to be very nicely machined and I will keep it in my kit so I can share with Nikon users. I’m not surprised, as I have other Neewer accessories that are sturdy and dependable. In order to connect a DSLR to a telescope, you need a T-adapter for your telescope, and a T-Ring that will work with your camera. You mount the t-adapter on the telescope, take the lens off your camera and put the T-ring on the camera. Now you can connect your camera to the telescope. Basically, the telescope becomes a giant telephoto lens for your camera. I use an EOS T-ring for my Canon cameras, and I love to share, but if someone comes along with a Nikon, they can’t connect to my telescope. Well, now they can.

We are new to astronomy and recently picked up a nice telescope for my daughter and I to star gaze with. I am am long time photographer and thought that I might bring the 2 together when we found interesting sky phenomenon. This is a very well made t ring and allows us to adapt my nikons well. Unfortunately, my timing has the skies here in the skies here in the NW very overcast for every night we have gone out. I am well aware that telescopes are not fine photography glass, but we are just having fun. I will update if there are any issues when the skies clear!

With this adapter ring being made of metal, there is no concern about whether it'll keep your camera safe. It attaches to the telescope snugly and is a direct mount to the camera. It really is a game changer being able to use your DSLR with a telescope. With live view enabled, the entire family can gather around the camera and see what the telescope sees.

At such a low price point, I was actually amazed by the build quality. Feels very sturdy and all the machining looks perfect. Fits like a glove on my 5D Mark III. Can't wait to get up to the cabin and connect to my telescope to try and catch some northern lights!
