This initially worked fine. After about a month, none of the dogs scanned showed having a microchip. One of the rescued dogs was scanned at a vet appointment and there was a microchip. We scanned each dog in our house over and over and it showed having a microchip 1 time out of 10-15 scans. I used the supplied test microchip and the same thing, it would show a micro chip after being scanned about 10 times. I reached out to the company using the Amazon product support option and was not been contacted back. I don't know how many stray dogs our pet rescue scanned and told people the dog did not have a microchip. Waste of time and money, would not recommend.

While the unit does its job well I found the size of the characters on the display panel so small that I needed a magnifier to read the code. Not recommended for elderly pet owners.Character size should be given - preferably a real lifesize view of a code on the display panel in Amazon advertising for the product so buyers know what they are getting.

Works like a charm on our 6 year old Chihuahua, but on our 10 year old lab mix, it can't find the tag. Not sure if its a FDX-A chip or not in the lab. It's from 24PetWatch, and I know the number, but the reader won't find it.

Scanned my dogs chip right after taking the scanner out of the box and it worked perfectly. Easily readable and scans the chip fast.

Worked instantly when I confirmed my cat's microchip and also for a "stray" cat roaming our neighborhood that I've been feeding, who turned out to be someone's lost pet. Excellent purchase and very useful for any other strays that come along my way in the future.

I got two readers . Gifted one to another rescuer that stops for any cats even in the roadsides. I wanted her also to have one on hand being in rescue. It may not scan some I have heard but it quickly picked up many that I have checked it with! I did have to get somewhat closer than i hoped and the sound is louder than some scared cats would like, but it helped me to check a colony group also and others. Definitely a must have for everyone to know if one is chipped you find anytime. Still good to go to the shelter so they can hopefully trace it bUt i was able to return a cat to its owner that was missing for a month!! I. You can call the chip companies and have them contact the owner and ask them to call you and they will try to contact the owner if info is correct and updated on their endReunited the next day . It took the spca several days to call me back. With spam blockers on cellphones though it may be tough to get through so be aware of that as well!i alos listed the cat online as found ! But This helped not to waste any time. Or take the time away from the animals that need rescuers and room for them. Please microchip pets!! And check any strays you can. Hard to know what they have been through or where they came from with so many ways they can end up far from home and travelers these days

So we bought this after 2 dogs kept showing up at our door every single day, worked fairly quickly when put to the test on one of them, it was easy to read but the numbers dont stay on the screen for to long, the design is nice and sleek and not bulky, the pricing for this was really great and it got delivered same day!

Used this already to scan a lost dog. Found the chip, made some calls, and the family is reunited. The scan took a few seconds to find the chip, but the screen was kind of difficult to read in the sun and the number is only visible for about a minute. Easy fix: scan indoors and take a picture.I bought this model because it is the one my veterinarian uses to help me with this situation. I'll be buying her another as a thank you.

I got this scanner because i volunteer with a small dog rescue. I just opened the box but I foster so I tested it out on the 7 dogs in my house. My five have chips from 2-3 different companies and my 2 fosters have one from the 2nd company. It worked on all of them. It does not, so far, work as far away as it says it does for injectable microchips, which is a bit of a let down because lost scared dogs don't typically like to be scanned but I'm willing to deal with it for something small and lightweight enough to leave in my purse or glove box. The people complaining obviously didn't read the ad. It says it doesn't read the old 9 digit avid chips. Will update if my review changes from playing with it.
