  • Active 4" Nearfield Studio Monitors with DSP Control

Network Controllable Monitoring from Neumann Neumann's KH series established the world-renowned mic maker as an authority in the modern monitoring world, and they've done it again with their KH 80 DSP nearfield model. This remarkably affordable monitor features a 2-way nearfield design backed by DSP-controlled bi-amplification technology that you can control via a central network right from your tablet or computer. Sweetwater engineers are excited about this function, which makes KH 80 ideal for surround sound monitoring configurations. The KH 80 DSP nearfield studio monitor demonstrates the no-compromise sound quality and impeccable build standards you can expect from Neumann. The Mathematically Modeled Dispersion waveguide The KH 80 DSP's polycarbonate composite cabinet is loaded with a long-throw, composite-sandwich 4" woofer and a titanium-fabric 1" dome tweeter, each driven by a powerful onboard high-headroom amplifier (120 watts for the lows, 70 watts for the highs). The front baffle incorporates Neumann's Mathematically Modeled Dispersion

The sound from these is truly excellent. They are small speakers though, so they start to fall off below about 50 Hz, but if you've got a subwoofer a crossover at 60 Hz, it works perfectly. We use them as our front speakers in a 5.1 setup and are very very pleased with them. They are small speakers so limited volume, but, unless you're trying to blow out your eardrums or have a loud dance party, they are more than loud enough for any reasonable listening level in a normal living room.Highly recommended! The only dumb thing is that the control app is only for Apple, but I have other ways to do room equalization.

I absolutely love these. The sounds they can produce for their size is incredible to say the least. The clarity is phenomenal. They also produce incredible lows for their size though I will still be adding a sub in the future because every so often I like to rattle my brain around a little bit.

Great speakers but the standby circuit is poorly designed. Many owners out there have issues with standby, have swapped out the speaker, only to have the same problem. For me it works on one speaker but not the other. If you don't care about standby these are great. Otherwise I would go for the Genelec equivalent.I also could never get the iPad app (no Android support) to discover the speakers. I did some deep debugging and found that the mDNS query that the app makes is just flat out wrong. I'm guessing most consumer routers are extremely permissive with mDNS results so that's probably why it works for some. Not on prosumer gear though. I mainly wanted connectivity to check for a firmware update but I was able to validate that my speakers already had the latest firmware and so it would not resolve the standby issue. With the exception of those two minor issues the speakers are excellent. I am very picky about sound and really like them, especially after trying some entry level JBLs that hissed like crazy and we're pretty fatiguing. I expected perfection for the price and the brand though.

The speakers sound amazing, they where measured in Audio Science Review to have ruler flat freq response and very very low distortion.I use these not as near field but for normal home audio and they kick my more expensive speakers and amps to the curb. The real issue and i really hate this, they have amazing settings from the app for room correction and EQ but it is only available on ipad and not on android!!! Really????

From source material to speakers - each component should reproduce the sound spectrum accurately. These speakers have a frequency response that is flat from 50-20Khz. Which is amazing.Use this for listening to music on your desk without headphones. I can't tell you how great they sound.

These are currently the smallest active monitors in Neumann's range, but they benefit from a finely tuned DSP system on board, resulting in an extraordinarily flat frequency response. As a mastering engineer, these near-field monitors (mine are about three feet from my ears), deliver such an accurate 'picture' of what I am working on that I am constantly surprised by their physical size on my desk! These are not for everyone, as you'll need to add tone controls and/or EQ is you want a certain sound (and a subwoofer, if a lot of low bass is your thing), but for achieving accurate sonic balance when creating music or otherwise working on sound, it's hard to imagine anything better for the job.
