Differential Key Features
- Wheel Rotation: Allows wheels to rotate at different speeds during turns to prevent wheel slips.
- Power Distribution: This is the part responsible for applying torque to your vehicles that allows them to spin.
Types of Differentials
- Limited slip differential (LSD): Two output shafts to rotate at different speeds.
- Torque vectoring differential: Uses electronic sensors to independently apply varying torque to each wheel.
- Open Differential: Most common. differential Allows wheels to receive different amounts of torque while cornering. Bad for slippery roads.
When to replace differential?
- Rumbling during turns.
- Whirring during acceleration.
- Whirring noise when decelerating.
- Sustained clunking during movement.

NICHE Differential Ring Pinion, Gear
A vehicle differential gear is made of many different parts. One of which includes the pinion gear. The pinion drives the ring gear from the center causing it to rotate. As the ring gear rotates it will cause the surrounding smaller spider gears to rotate in rhythm. The spider gears then drive the side gears and give your vehicle wheels motion.
When to replace pinion and gear?
- Difficulty in handling vehicle.
- Gear grinding, whirring, or whining when driving.
- Sounds of banging, clanging, rattling, and whining.
- Burning smells, which is an indication of bad differential oil.
