It has two attached pieces of harness leather that are stitched together. The bottom piece straps on the your swells and the other piece is your handhold. Different from a normal night latch, the handle stays up so you don't have to look down as much to find it when your horse is sideways!In 2014 We began our quest to offer quality tack at an honest price. The Amish family that builds all of our NRS Tack does just that methodically handcrafting each items. How do we do this? On our double stitched headstalls we precisely count the stitches per inch to make sure the leather lays flat, yet maintains its integrity and strength. Or that we dip our split reins in oil for just the right amount of seconds, to ensure the correct feel; broke-in right from the start. We've built a partnership that works in perfect tandem. Our craftsmen are second and third generation leather makers with a passion for top-quality materials that create a top-quality piece of tack! Each and every piece we sell passes through no less than 10 hands from the first cut to the final rubbing of the edges. We take pride in evaluating each piece of tack we design. Having the right amount of holes in a headstall allows customers to use it on several horses; with the right fit for each of them. Every pair of split reins we sell are hand cut side by side and stay together throughout the whole finishing process so that they both have the same weight and feel on the horse. From flank cinches, headstalls, and breast collars to curb straps, we have developed tack for cowboys in or out of the arena, Made in the United States using almost exclusively Hermann Oak Leather out of St. Louis, Missouri.

Have used mine for several years now and it’s a little stretched out(leather stretches over time and it’s been weathered on in the feedlot) but it’s still supple, works like a charm, and has saved my rear quite a few times!

This worked as intended! I put it on the saddle of a green broke mustang whom I rode earlier this year and it didn't snap off when I grabbed onto it when she bolted. It held on and held me on when she bolted. Overall, I highly recommend this product as it's as wide as a good well-made dog-collar, is adjustable to most saddles, easy to hold onto, and didn't let me down. Since it is leather, it will eventually stretch so keep an eye on it and replace it as necessary.

This is a very nice piece. The leather is sick, and the overall construction is well-made. I was somewhat nervous as this was a less expensive option compared to other namebrand, however, I think this one is almost better. It fits perfectly on my saddle, and Everything looks and feels great. I have fortunately not had to use it yet, so I don’t know how it would hold up in that instance, but the way that it is made I don’t have any concerns

The issue I had with another night latch was not having much handle left after attaching it to the swell, and if/when I need a night latch, I need it now - not eventually after whatever amount of time it takes to locate it and squeeze my hand in, especially if I'm wearing a bulky winter glove. The NRS night latch is generous, your grip loop is open, prominent and easily available even if the swell on your saddle is a little larger than average.

This is a great, simple night latch. I bought one to see if it'd fit my Tucker western saddle. It's a great fit so I ordered 2 more for my other saddles. It doesn't match my saddles color-wise (my saddles are black and honey colored and this is more "natural"), but I think it's a nice accent and if it bugs me enough then I'll dye it. Good leather, seems really sturdy, and there's LOTS of room for adjustment.
