Bought this to measure heat on my F150 catalytic converter for accuracy. Worked perfect, can't go wrong for the price.I am glad to add this to my tool collection. My wife asked me to check the heat level for the bread she was baking in the oven-worked perfect there too.

Great way of getting an accurate idea of surface temps, simply aim the laser on a spot (ideally) about 12” away from whatever you're measuring, whether it's a steak on the BBQ or an exhaust manifold on a car. Press the trigger, let it average the data across all the beams and the temp pops onto the display. Doing a little checking on the accuracy when compared with a couple traditional temp probes, this infrared unit is pretty much bang on, with only a degree or two of difference between them.The device runs on AA batteries, meaning that you don't have to worry about some built-in rechargeable battery eventually dying and rendering the thing non-functional. I can see this thermometer becoming an essential tool around the house in the very near future.

Pull the trigger and point the laser reticle at what you want to measure and look at the screen.It is literally that simple to know an object or surface temperature.I use it to diagnose electronics and for 3d printing so there are a million uses.Recommended.

This item is very nicely priced and great for checking temperatures on a wide variety of things. I use this to test auto A/C and heating systems mostly. The display is easy to read and switch between centigrade and farenheit. The one thing that I did notice is that when measuring cold temperatures, such as an auto AC, the number on the gauge will continue to drop, even after my backup analog stick probe thermometer levels off at around 18F. According to this unit, after 20 seconds of holding the trigger down, my car's AC was blowing -55F. A slightly more expensive digital thermometer also read 18F, this unit read 18F initially as well, but the reading kept dropping. It's accurate enough and I suppose my application of 20 seconds continuous read is an edge case.
