About this item

  • A wideband (20MHz - 4GHz), high-performance, general purpose LNA module
  • Higher gain, lower noise figure, lower power consumption and better linearity than modules based on SPF5189Z and similar LNA MMICs
  • Can be powered through bias tee (3.3V-5V), USB, or DC power

LaNA is a very high performance, wideband LNA module designed for general purpose SDR applications.

Each module allows for 3 different power options, but you should only power with one option at any given time! The recommended power input through the SMA output port (for bias-tee capable SDRs like the NESDR SMArTee XTR) is 3V-5V DC. Alternatively, if you don't have a bias-tee capable SDR, you can use the external power options--the microUSB port, or DC barrel connector via the included DC to microUSB adapter. The recommended external power input is 3.3V-5.5V DC.

Though there is protection circuitry on LaNA for overvoltage conditions--and voltages of up to 12V DC should still work and will not damage the device--it is not recommended for long-term usage.

Each LaNA module has an internal EMI shield to protect the sensitive circuitry from external interference and is fully ESD-protected.

I use mine for public safety scanning and it's been running 24/7/365 for nearly 3 years without any issues.

This is a great little amplifier for use with an ads-b receiver. It allowed me to add a filter and extend my range.

This is hooked up inline with an old home attic television antenna. From there, the LNA output feeds into a plain old cable splitter, one splitter output to a television, and one splitter output to my SDR on laptop. The Noolec significantly improves signals on both SDR and for regular television viewing. I did an OTA rescan, and pulled in several new TV stations I otherwise could not receive.

I got this to put up on a tower with a discone antenna to help with reception due to being in a bowl. This improved my reception dramatically without raising the noise floor hardly at all. I have it at the antenna and feed it with the RSP2 bias-t and it works just fine. Well worth the investment for SDR use.

Wasn't sure if this would work because I have read some negative reviews but decided to give it a chance. Wow this does an excellent job on the APT and LRPT weather satellites. Also I tried it on the Acars frequencies and it does a good job. I haven't tried it on the UHF bands yet, but I highly recommend this.

Works well in a 400 MHz radiosonde receiver application. Able to power it using a bias tee and get good performance.

Gracias!

After my original RTL-SDR LNA broke, I needed a new LNA a.s.a.p. Firstly I ordered the SAWBird NOAA but that LNA did nothing but increase the general noise floor and didn't increase NOAA-reception.I then placed this LNA instead, powered over Bias T, and I actually think it might perform even better than the RTL-SDR LNA.I'm actually thinking of buying a 2nd Nooelec Lana because even for ADS-B the reception is marvellous with an off-tune antenna.
