I never knew how often I’d use a nut and bolt size checker until I bought this kit. I’m restoring a car so it makes it easy to know exactly what size of nut or bolt I need to purchase. Instead of going to a store to check the size and pay whatever they’re charging, I can now just order online, saving time and money.The sizes are marked in the foam and the pieces. I worry that they will become brittle (they’re plastic) as the age but the low cost makes them cheap to replace.

This was one of those purchases that for me will only come in handy once in a while and so far I haven’t needed it. Most of the bolts I’ve dealt with lately were in a package for putting something together and I already knew what they were for and the sizes. I have tons of random bolts around my house and garage but I haven’t had to match anything up since ordering this kit. Sadly. I’m looking forward to the day I actually need it and have it on hand. Seems like a decent set and wish I had one in standard sizes as well.

I like the case and the marking on the case and the items also easy to but it in the right place and it has both s.a.e. and metric so when I did my junk hardware I was able to separate metric from standard thank you

I deal with many different size bolts and nuts every day. I got this thread checker set to help decern what thread, pitch we have. Honestly, I have several other thread checking tools, most a simple plate with threads in them and a scale on top. These work fine many times, but it is very nice to have a set like this that you can screw into the nut or hole and check. You can also use the other end and screw a bolt into it and check the thread as well. very nice set, comes with many inserts to check the most common and many un-common threads used. These are all individual pieces, so you can take them and use them in the area you are working, like on an engine. very portable and convenient to use, as many other checkers are larger and mounted to a display piece, which makes checking many threads impossible.

Overall, I like this item. When I go to the hardware store to try to find a specific size nut or bolt, I hate bringing one along with me, and then HOPING that the store has a sizer. Otherwise, I wind up making a guess, and it's easy to guess wrong about the size, especially when dealing with an SAE size that's very close to a metric size. Or sometimes, you get the right diameter, but the threading is wrong. In any case, I either wind up buying the wrong size and then having to make *another* trip to the store, or buying several different sizes and then having to remember to return the ones I didn't need. Either way, a hassle. So having a nut and bolt sizer in the house will be VERY handy!I wasn't able to test every single nut and bolt size, but all of the sizes I did try matched up to the size indicated on the package from the given nut or bold, so I have reason to believe that all the sized are correct.My only issues with this item are minor. One is that there is no labeling on the OUTSIDE of the case. I actually have a number of similar-looking plastic cases with screw drivers, sockets, and the like. It would have been nice to have a label on the outside stating what's in the case. (I made my own label.)The other issue is that the printing on the foam holder for two of the sizes -- 5/16-18 and 5/16-24 -- was a bit messed up (see photo). That could have been a fluke in manufacturing.Overall, though, I'm happy with this item.

This thread checker set is such a handy tool to have around for mixed nuts, bolts, and screws, and for identifying threaded holes. This set comes in a handy plastic case that includes a clearly marked label showing the size and location of each thread checker. Each thread checker is also labeled on the side of the thread checker. The case also features a nice foam insert that keeps each thread checker in place. The case and foam keep the thread checkers organized, clean, and prevents the thread checkers from being lost or damaged from being mixed in with loose tools that would otherwise scratch and gouge the thread checkers. The thread checkers are also anodized for quick identification. The SAE thread checkers are anodized blue and the metric thread checkers are anodized red.After testing the thread checkers with a multitude of differently sized nuts, bolts, and screws, both metric and SAE, I found that the threads on these thread checkers are very well made and fit clean nuts, bolts, and screws perfectly. The thread checkers are aluminum so they're very lightweight. The light weight makes them easy to drop but makes the whole set nice and lightweight.Overall, I am very impressed with the quality and fit of these thread checkers. Not only do the threads fit perfectly, but the thread checkers are well protected and clearly labeled in the case.
