WHEN SHOULD THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE BE REPLACED
Incorrect Idle Speed
The car will feel like it’s going to stop as your RPMs drop. An IAC valve that is left open will cause an excessive idle speed. Even though the engine is not running, it will still run very fast
Bad IAC valves can cause surging conditions at idle. The RPMs will rise and then drop to normal
Check Engine Light Is On
The automatic car sensor oversees the IAC valve to ensure its adequate function. The sensor triggers the check engine light if it detects a fault
Car Stalling
A bad IAC valve can cause a vehicle’s engine not to get enough airflow to move, causing it to stop completely
The Car Won’t Start
In extreme cases, the IAC valve may prevent air from entering the engine when it is functioning, resulting in an engine that won’t start or crank

I installed this in my 1993 Corvette and followed the service manual to calibrate it. I will say it is not black but metal and gold in color not as pictured. Time will tell how well it holds up. But out of the gate it functions fine.

Not what I was expecting. Was expecting a black one based on the item I chose but got a gold looking color and don't think they work well

I was expecting to pay much more for a new idle air control motor for my 1989 Corvette. This one works great. Hope it lasts.

Installed this in my 1992 Corvette which was listed as one of the cars it fit. Although the pintle/tip is a little different than the original, based on the carbon marks of the old unit I determined the diameter of the pintle should work, and it did. The length was a little shorter than the original I removed (see photo), but that is good. The car moves it during the calibration after install and its better to be shorter than longer to avoid damage. It worked perfect for me !The only problem I had was being able to get the old one out. I finally managed to do that without removing the throttle body (and associated half-dozen hoses and coolant/etc). The right 32mm socket and hose clamp pliers, plus some planning and careful execution made it an easy job once I figured it out :-)
