This works great for automatic mixing. I wanted to be sure I removed all the water from an MTC oil infusion. I was using a small beaker with one of the small magnetic mixers included. (There are several different shapes and sizes to chose from depending on what you're mixing and the size of your container.) The mixing was great. I used the include thermometer probe and set the temperature to 75C. The actual temperature rose much higher. I eventually just turned off the heat.I was able to play with just heating water. If I left the heat on it's lowest setting the thermometer seemed like it worked as expected. When I turn it up, it reached the target temperature then kept heating. With the small 100ml beaker I was using using heat without the probe was better. Keep your eye on anything that will be damaged by over heating.

I actually got this for my niece so she can do some supervised chemistry mixtures at home. I will say this will work great for small labs. It is very compact but works well. It can heat up pretty quick. The device is easy to setup and the stirring pieces are well made. They are also easy to clean and rinse off. When working with chemical, always safety first and use this with caution. I will say this is not a very big hot plate or stirring device. It is very easy to move around as needed as it is not super heavy. It comes with several accessories that work well with this. It is easy to wipe down although be careful if you are cleaning this after it is heated. It has several different settings to adjust the heat and spin of the stirrer. They are control via knobs which make it easier to set a more precise speed and temperature. The probe is really nice and pretty accurate to show you the exact temperature of the solution. This thing can spin at high speeds so adjust accordingly. I found it is best to spin at a slower speed than gradually increase. Overall this is a nice hotplate/stirring device. It heats up quickly and is compact to make it easy to put away and store. It is also easy to clean. The stir pieces are very durable and are also easy to clean. I found no issue with them breaking or falling apart after using them in the solution. It can spin pretty quickly so adjust accordingly. It is a great device for small lab or home use. The thermometer is pretty accurate from what I can tell with my temperature gun.

This hotplate stirrer is a size or two smaller than the other one I own, but it is quite impressive considering the number of accessories that come included with it. Most notably, it has a temperature probe and stand, but it also comes with several different stir bars, which is also very nice.I owned and used a cheapo brand stirrer hotplate for nearly a decade before finally stepping up my game to an Onilab last year. I'm still kicking myself for holding out for so long. My old, dumb stirrer claimed to be able to handle 5 liters, but you could hardly balance a 3 liter beaker on it, let alone stir and heat it. This smart Onilab one also claims to be able to handle 5 liters and, while I do find that to be a stretch, I can confirm that it will handle a 3 liter beaker perfectly fine. It has all the cool features of the larger model I own, but with a smaller base and lower wattage. The heating and stirring are precisely controlled with separate knobs that turn on and off with a push. The heat and speed ramp up slowly and the plate doesn't go from ice cold to rocket-nozzle hot in the blink of an eye.The only thing I don't like is that the stir bars can still occasionally go haywire at the higher speeds and require a reset. Perhaps this has to do with the strength of the magnet? I have never worked with top-of-the-line laboratory stirrers, so I'm not sure if this is something inherent to all stirrers or just the lower-priced ones. Speaking of price, the current asking price for this is quite reasonable considering the quality, features, and the amount of time and effort it is bound to save you during its lifespan.I use these for everything from mixing fragrances, making lotions and soaps, formulating customized plant nutrients, wood finishes... you name it. I find them to be indispensable tools. They're awesome and once you own one you'll probably find lots of novel uses for it as well.
