I did my first oil change on my 2023 RAM 2500. This drain valve makes draining oil much easier and without the mess. This replaces your oil drain plug with a drain valve that you can attach a tube to so oil flows cleanly into the used oil container or bucket. Why buy this? When you remove the stock oil drain plug the rush of oil is so strong it splashes everywhere. No matter what you do, it is a mess. With this, all you need to do is attach a rubber hose, rotate a spring loaded valve and all the oil will neatly flow through the tube without a mess. I have used these drain valves before and they absolutely work and make oil changes so much easier.

Wanted to make it work but unfortunately the one I received was not the correct size. I can see its good quality and maybe next oil change I’ll try it again.

I highly recommend these Fumoto valves to make life and oil changing easier! Have had these on every (4) Subaru we've owned. Never had trouble with ground clearance or accidental opening. Unless you knock it off on a tree stump or boulder, you'll have bigger problems than a missing drain plug. This one goes on a 2019 RAM 2500. It makes changing oil almost effortless. Often the hardest part of the oil change is getting to and removing the filter, not opening a valve and, with a piece of tubing, directing the oil flow into a basin or back into an empty oil jug. No scorched oil covered hands ever again! You won't be disappointed. It is the best 30 something dollars spent in a long time! Hope this helps.

Great product. I was a little hesitant at first when I installed it since it seem to hand a little low. Plus, I made sure not to over tighten but it was hard not wanting to tighten a bit more for peace of mind but I held back and so far no problems or leaks.

I installed this on my Dodge 6.7 Cummins Diesel. When I drained my oil without this, oil splashed everywhere. I will never have that problem again as now I am in control. This is a great piece and the third engine I have put this valve on.

I installed the Fumoto F104N engine oil drain valve on a 2017 Ram 5500...three times. The statement I found over and over again in the information was "DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN." The literature stated it should be tightened to 18 foot pounds. However, I did not have the tools to make it possible to use my torque wrench on the body of this valve. The other thing I noticed was this valve did not come with a rubber o-ring. It is more of a hard gasket type material. I drained the oil, installed the valve with the gasket using an adjustable wrench, guessing at when I reached 18 foot pounds of torque. I thought that would be the end of it. I installed the 3 gallons of oil and within minutes I noticed a slow dripping leak. So I snugged up the valve a little bit more but it continued to leak. After reading the reviews and information on the website I was afraid I had over tightened the valve and damaged the gasket. I also found on the Fumoto website that they would send you a free replacement gasket. I called Fumoto and spoke to a very nice woman. At first she was going to charge me one dollar so I requested two replacement gaskets. But then I mentioned their website stated it was free and she did not charge me. When the package arrived, I found they sent me two gaskets...thankfully.Next, I had to drain the oil to re-install the valve. Using the valve was so convenient and easy. I wanted this valve to work. I removed the valve and re-installed it by hand tightening it and then turning it an additional 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn. It still leaked! I don't think I even tried to tighten it more.I had noticed residue around the drain hole which was just the thickness of a few sheets of paper. I don't know if this was just deposit build-up or if it was some type of sealant from the factory or previous owner. I was determined to make this work and I knew if it didn't work this time, I would have to give up. I left the drain hole open to allow the remaining oil to run out and went to a hardware store. I purchased a paint and rust grinding wheel and a 3/4 inch crowfoot open end wrench so that I could use my torque wrench on the body of the valve.I went home and smoothed out the area around the drain hole. I was happy I purchased something I could use with my drill. It would have been a real chore sanding it by hand. However, the round wheel was a little difficult to use with precision. I wiped down the area, and by this time, there was no oil dripping out of the drain hole.Next, I put my last gasket on and hand tightened the valve. Then I used my torque wrench with my newly purchased crowfoot and torqued it to the specified 18 foot pounds. I felt this was actually tighter than when I installed it the first two times. I put in a gallon of oil and watched it over the next day. Miraculously, it did not leak.I do not know what the issue was on the first two installs. Maybe I did not tighten it enough, maybe it was the residue preventing the gasket from sealing or maybe installing the gasket contaminated with oil caused the problem.I hope someone can learn from my experience.1) Allow the oil to completely drain to prevent oil from contacting the gasket.2) Ensure the area around the drain hole is completely smooth. The hard gasket is very unforgiving.3) Make sure to install the valve in the open position. This will prevent you from contacting and damaging the valve handle with the wrench.4) Get the right tools in order to torque the plug to the specifications. Also, remember, different models have different torque specifications so be sure you are using the correct one.

When you pick this up you can feel the quality. This is an outstanding product which makes changing oil so so so easy. Yes three "so" because oil change is then that easy. Simple installation and operation. Highly recommend this to anyone who does their own oil changes.

This has been hyped on a few Subaru owner web discussion boards. I bought one now that my Crosstrek is out of warranty and I can do oil changes at home without voiding a warranty. I installed it. So far no leaks from the thread. The true test of the valve’s quality will be no accidental opening between oil changes, no corrosion in winter and no mess with my next oil change.
