My oven element caught fire and burnt out, and I didn't want to buy a new oven, so I thought, maybe I could replace it. Got on amazon, searched out an oven element that looked like the one I had, and that said it would be good for my oven brand (an older Tappan), and ordered it. Make sure you unplug your oven...these screw into the back and they don't just plug in, there are wires that pull out and you slide onto the new one and if you don't unplug it you could get a nasty shock. But, it was very simple to do, I'm a divorced woman and didn't want to ask my male friends for help for once, so I did it on my own, it was very easy, and if I can do it, anyone can. My oven is fixed, I saved myself hundreds, and felt good about my accomplishment when I was done.
