The set ordered and received was the 5/16" x 4-1/2" – 20 PCS set. All of the bolts received were of excellent quality and with reasonably smooth threads. There was some lack of the black oxide coating. A portion of the lack of coating was likely due to their being jostled around after escaping from their broken plastic storage case. A use and strength test was conducted on one of the bolts. The test consisted of screwing a bolt through a 2x4. No core pilot hole was drilled. A start dent in the 2x4 was created by tapping the bolt’s hex head with a mallet. An impact driver was then used to drive the bolt through the wood. The low-level torque of the impact driver was shortly overcome; however, the driver’s mid-level torque setting was sufficient to cleanly drive the bold completely through the test piece. The bolt was then backed-out and removed. Inspection revealed no damage or deformation to it, with the exception of some additional loss of coating, particularly along the outer edges of the threads. See photos.Conclusion: These are an excellent set of easy to install, highly corrosion resistant, hex head bolts. 4-stars, not 5, due to the significantly damaged plastic storage case.

Ordered these Party Animal Hex Head Lag Screws 1/4" x 2-1/2" - 20PCS Stainless Steel Black Zinc Lag Bolts to go into my wall mounted parts organizer. Tested one on a 2x4 and they seem as good as the others I have ordered and I don't have much feedback or issues to report. Some of the black coating had come off on them, so that was not the greatest but I doubt that matters much, not enough to deduct a star in my book. Quickly inspected them and did not notice any manufacturing issues so into the drawer they went. Good size for a 2x4 if counter sinking the hole.

The Party Animal hex head lag screws are a great choice for woodworking projects. The 5/16" x 2" size is perfect for securing heavy items or building sturdy structures. I am working on a deck for my business. Part of the plan is to use black screws and hardware as an accent. These lag screws are great for the framework. They are the perfect length to go through my 2 inch lumber into the posts and hold them tight and strong. These are very strong and no doubt will hold alot of weight. These are nice and sharp and are milled straight. There was no wobbling as I was screwing them in. If you need good strong screws these are great.

I use these to mount solar lights and they work very well. They appear to be of good quality and install easily with a small pilot hole. A buy for under a $1 per screw.
