I understand the reviewer who mentioned that there was no easy way to mount this on 16" centered studs. Having said that you could drill a couple of extra hole in the back plate to do that. I think you'd need more than two screws / bolts if you wanted to use the whole weight capacity. They do provide 3 holes on each side for mounting. The shelf itself is nicely made with no rough edges and the seams are welded. The powder coat appears even and the shelf itself is pretty rigid. You can twist it slightly. The fact that the shelf comes out a full 12" means that I can fit several shoe sized storage totes on there and not worry about it failing, however I am not sure whether it would hold 150lbs gracefully. Overall I think it's a good shelf although it does seem a little expensive.

An excellent shelf for the garage or workshop. This shelf is made of sturdy steel which is powder coated to protect the metal from water and other items commonly found in a garage or workshop. There's a lip on four (4) sides of the shelf to prevent round items from falling off the shelf. There are two (2) sets of three (3) mounting holes at each end of the raised rear lip. Using multiple screws to secure the shelf to the wall together with the heavy gauge steel used in the shelf affords the ability to carry a substantial (150 pounds according to the manufacturer) load. The shelf is short enough to be mounted almost anywhere, but long enough to store a good quantity of items. The powder finish protect the metal from corrosive agents commonly found (and occasionally spilled) in workshops and/or garages.I've had the shelf mounted since New Year day. It's holding my heavy tools such as tap & die set, forstner bits, router bits, etc. Additionally, I've attached strong magnets with hooks to several points on the raised ends of the shelf from which I've hung several tools such as a small level, a magnetic pick-up tool, etc. I've not weighed the items, but I'd guess the total weight is between 85-90 pounds. There are no signs of failure at the mounting points and the shelf is as steady as it was the first day I installed it. I heartily recommend this shelf for anyone with a garage or a workshop that needs a bit more storage space. And for people for whom a black shelf goes with their living space - mud room, man-cave, etc.

I installed my shelf above my workshop countertop, as a home for my charged batteries. With that, I am not putting too much weight on the shelf. Another consideration is I mounted this shelf to a backsplash made of 3/4" plywood, so I did not have to worry about finding a stud(s) for mounting. Installation was easy - I just use the pre-drilled holes. That said, here are my thoughts on the shelf design and build quality.First off, if it were me, I would have reinforced the flange at the back where the mounting holes are. With a rating of 150 pounds, I would think the steel should be reinforced. You can compensate for some of the by using large washers to help distribute the load. Another consideration is to avoid using wall anchors to install this shelf. Once again, with that amount of weight, I would never trust drywall anchors. If you are really going to load this shelf, I would recommend using heavier screws as well. I would use structural screws if I were going to be putting a considerable amount of weight on this shelf.Othersise, the shelf seems pretty sturdy and of good build design. The steel is a heavy gauge, and feels robust. With what I am doing wityh this shelf, I am not testing it at all. I like the perforations, which are calling for hooks. The powder coated finish is very nice and looks durable. With my light demands on the shelf, the finish is holding up just fine.I would not feel comfortable putting 150 lbs on this shelf, but would certainly recommend it for something in the 30-50 pound range. I will not be testing it, as I don't want to damage the shelf, and I am happy with its intended purpose. Thank you for reading my review.

This shelf is incredibly sturdy! Although the product information and instructions show mounting the shelf so it has a one-inch lip, I elected to install it upside down (so it wouldn't have a lip). I wanted to set two wastebaskets (one for garbage; one for can recycling) on it to keep those items off of the garage floor (and away from the marauding raccoons that occasionally sneak into the garage at night!). They were a couple of inches deeper than the shelf so I installed it upside down and it worked perfectly. (Also, by installing it upside down, it offers lots and lots of holes in the lip that can be used to screw it to the wall.)This is a great shelf, and I highly recommend it!

Love the shelf - the construction, the finish, the SIZE!Here’s the issue - you need to hit at least one stud and have a better mounting mechanism than they provided. This is heavy and putting heavy items on it makes it worse. The included wall anchors don’t do it for me, and nothing worse than a downed shelf, a mess, and tears in your drywall. Easy fix with proper mounting hardware, but you do need to be creative. Ymmv. Once mounted, and awesomely utilitarian shelf.

The storage capacity is 2 square feet. The sturdiness is acceptable and the build quality is fairly good. The looks are good for home or garage. The functionality is questionable as the design of the product does not allow for direct mounting to 16 inch center to center standard framing. This creates a bit of a dilemma should this be loaded up with the 150 pound weight as this is rated for. All in all, with the design and performance flaws this isn't a very good value for the money.
