I bought this for my 11-year-old large (80 lb) Lab mix who could no longer jump into my Outback. I also wanted it to aid his transition from ground to vehicle following back surgery (him, not me). He is too heavy for me to lift and after several days of gradual habituation, he had no qualms about using it. The surface is no-slick sand-paper-like and he never lost his footing, which would have frightened him. It was wide enough to make him and me comfortable regarding footing, especially since his hindquarters were losing coordination due to the back problem.I began by placing the ramp folded into the smaller length flat on a floor in a narrow hallway where he would have to walk over it to get to where he wanted to go. After two days, I opened it to the second section; after three days I opened it all the way.Next, I placed the double length on the first step of my stairway to the upstairs where we all sleep. I blocked the sides so he would have to walk up the ramp to the second step. After two nights I opened it all the way and placed it on the second step. The next two nights I placed it on the third step. I never "trained" him to use it; only made it a routine part of access to areas he wanted to get to. I never made a big deal of his using it and I walked on it to so he could follow. The next day I introduced the ramp into the vehicle and with stinky cheese, urged him to walk all the way into the cargo area of the car. He did so without a blink. I took him to one of our favorite places--a lake with a natural path for a walk. This way he associated the ramp with a new freedom to be able to get into the car again and go someplace fun.By the time I had to load him for his trip to the hospital for back surgery, he knew the ramp meant he could go with me anywhere. By "loading" the association of the ramp with pleasant experiences before the hospital trip, he did not separate the experience and associate the ramp with the vet office. Mission accomplished!Great product; wide, non-slip, sturdy, did not wobble or creak, never slid off the bumper (a sure way to instill fear in a dog). Easy to fold up, not too heavy, easy to store. Solid sections when folded all the way out--no bounce. Bought sight unseen but I am very impressed! Good value price-wise too.

I am so pleased with these ramps. My 120 lb. Rottie was having a lot of trouble going up and down the five steps on my front porch. She is getting old and would go sideways when coming up the steps. Then that didn't work after a while and she would stand there and just cry. I couldn't lift her so I started researching pet ramps. Most I found were more narrow than these. I ordered two because I wasn't sure if one would be wide enough. I placed them side by side on one side of the steps going up to my front porch. That leaves a wide space for me with steps and a wide ramp for her. My little beagle trotted right up and down with no problem. But my Rottie didn't like the no-slip surface of the ramp. Don't know why. So I took an old rubber backed small area rug and laid on top of the double ramp. I laid a trail of treats for her and after she went up and down once, now she goes with no problemsNow for the ramps themselves. They are made of very thick plastic and will fold into a suitcase shape easily. They are heavy and have a handle when folded. The ramps are black and the no-slip surface is gray and feels like sandpaper. I haven't tried them yet getting her into the back of my jeep but don't think there will be a problem. The ramps will flex a little when she goes up and down, but not much. I may have my grandson build a small brace underneath if I see it needs it. They are wide enough that I could have gotten by with just one ramp, but using the two together makes an excellent ramp for her. They seem very sturdy and I know they will hold 200 lbs. That's what I weigh and I walked up and down before I let her on them. All in all, these are one of the best things I've ever gotten for my dogs and I wish I had gotten them sooner. Also, when I ordered them, the sale price for two was less than the regular price for one and was much less than other ramps I looked at.

My lab is about 12 years old and has been having a hard time jumping into my truck the past few months.Until now I've been picking him up and setting him on the seat every time. Not a big chore, but the old guy isn't a fan of being picked up all that much.I ordered this ramp to use when I'm too tired to pick him up or when I wearing clothes I don't want to get covered in dog hair. It works exactly as described. 25 minutes of training flat on the ground, then against the couch and finally up the truck and he goes up it pretty well now.PROs:Does exactly what it's sold to do. Creates a stable ramp from ground to door sill on my truck for the dog to walk up.Easily supports an 80+lb dog.Wide enough that he'll not step off by accident.Pretty compact for a durable ramp that folds into three sections and can support so much weight. It easily fits in a trunk, on the back seat of any car or in the bed of a truck/SUV.Has a built in carrying handle and a locking swivel that holds the ramp from unfolding by itself when stored. The surface is pretty much sand paper glued to the top. Easily replaceable when worn off.Rubber grips on edges of ramp so it doesn't slide on the ground or off the vehicle.CONs are the obvious things:It's not tiny. But in it's defense it's a 70 inch long ramp, 20 inches wide made of plastic that can hold a 200 lb dog. Were you expecting it to fit in your purse? Folded up it's about a foot thick, 20 inches wide and just over two feet long.It weighs about 29 lbs. May be a bit heavy and bulky for a weaker person. Then again, if you have a dog in the size range that needs this ramp, you had better be able to control the dog too. If you can't pick this ramp up, you can't control your large dog either when it bolts. Think about it.The installed sand paper surface wears pretty fast it seems. You'll have to replace it with your own sticky sandpaper eventually.
