I bought this to replace a squeaky Dominant string. (Never get an unwound E string — they squeak when playing chords.) In addition to fixing the squeaking problem, I found this Eudoxa string to have a warmer, fuller sound. Definitely worth the money if you're an intermediate or advanced player.

Someone recommended this E string to me. Wow! I had tried the Eva Pirazzi E and the Obligato E which were not what I wanted but this is amazing!! No squeak and blends beautifully with my Eva Pirazzis. Makes my inexpensive violin sound incredible which people always tell me. They think my violin costs way more than it does.

I've used a wound E string for a decade or so now, and Eudoxa's E is always Excellent!! :-) Much longer-lasting than plain steel E strings, despite having another layer of metal, and much more resonant and less strident-sounding, and easier on the fourth finger especially. I dont' know why more people don't use this string. I'm the only person I know who does. The one annoying thing is that some of the strings come with a ball on the end, and I have to pry it out. So be sure you buy the one with the loop only, if available.

It was definitely worth the trouble of putting these loop strings on an extra ball end I had. It just sounds amazing and it doesn't squeak during massive string crossing. I recommend this for most violins (some of them don't take advantage of this string). Again, amazing string.
