PiSugar S continues the pin design of PiSugar2 and connects to the bottom of the GPIO to provide data communication while supplying power.

PiSugar S is a battery module specially designed for Raspberry Pi Zero series. It is a complete UPS that maximizes the zero portability of the Raspberry Pi.
It is a complete UPS with a continuous output capability of 5V 2.5A.
- UPS - The external power supply is disconnected to continuously supply power and obtain the external power status. External power access can trigger boot, suitable for unattended projects.
- Input and output - 5V 2A output, 5V 2A input
FEATURES
Easy Install
Install in 30 secs. Connect Raspberry Pi from the bottom without soldering, does not occupy GPIO headers.
GPIO button
It can trigger the device to turn on when it is turned off, and it can be used as a custom button after turning on (when the automatic power-on function is turned off)
Extensible
Power input/output pads are provided on the circuit board, which can be equipped with any 5V standard charging devices, such as solar panels and QI wireless charging.

It does its job but won’t get battery levels as it’s not supported over serial. PiSugar3 does. Also you need to clean the gpio pins as often they are coated and won’t make good contact on pogo pins. If yours is dead, then try this.

I have a couple pisugar products and all have worked great. Recently I did have an issue with one of them, so i reached out to their customer support team, not really expecting much, I was greeted with swift and polite responses, in a few email exchanges, the customer service rep had a completely new unit shipped out to me. Iv used other products to power different projects, but I will solely use PiSugar products from here on out, they are reasonably priced, fairly straightforward to operate and mount, they have an excellent GitHub repo and on top of all that, the customer service is excellent!

I was mildly disappointed the S model doesn't have any level reporting like the 2 or 3, but it wasn't nessessary, so the device does what I need. Allows for IoT device portability, I can safely unplug my pi zero and take it on the road and plug it back in where available without having to shutdown or reboot. Approximately 6-8 hours on a charge at average usage.If you need features like auto save/shutdown or the built in clock, spend a few bux more on the Sugar 2 or 3. If all you want is portability, can't go wrong with the less expensive S.
