Your cart is empty.PJ1 Fast Black Hi-Temp Exhaust System Paint was originally formulated for NASA for use on reentry spacecraft. As a silica-ceramic hybrid, it moves with the metal as it heats/expands and cools/contracts to give it durability. PJ1 Flat Black Exhaust Paint forms a protective shield against rust and corrosion. It resists chipping and scratching. Temperature Tolerance: Withstands up to 1500F. It is well-suited headers and expansion chambers. Not for use on engines, crankcases, transmissions, or radiators! Finish: Flat Black. Application Instructions: 1.)Blast etch or sand to expose bare metal. 2.)Remove all loose debris. 3.)Flush surface with non residue evaporative cleaner such as PJ1 Super Cleaner (Product Number 3-20, 3-21(CA Compliant)). 4.)Apply paint within 24 hours. 5.)Shake can vigorously for a full minute. Apply 3 or 4 thin even coats. Shake can between coats. More thin coats are better than fewer thick coats. Heat Curing On the Vehicle: A) Run at idle for 10 minutes. B) Cool for 20 minutes. C) Run at idle for 20 minutes. D) Cool for 20 minutes. Heat Curing Off the Vehicle: A) Let paint dry completely. B) Let paint dry completely. C) Heat to 250F/121C for 30 minutes. D) Cool for 30 minutes. E) B) Heat to 400F/204C for 30 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes. Heat to 650F/343C for 30 minutes.

I bought a can of PJ1 high temp flat black and a can of PJ1 black matte black engine paint - the flat black was glossy and the matte was flat - label mix up?

Scuff on clutch cover masked pretty good. If you are trying to hit one small spot, though, it will run pretty easily. Have to use big wide swipes, like painting a car.

Does what it says, I touched up a few minor scuffs on my Harley pipes. Hasn't melted off yet. Pipes get real hot too

My exhaust pipes were looking a bit worn. I did plenty of research and determined PJ1 to be the most suitable High temp paint for my exhaust in Arizona, I also verified this to support my findings. For my results I sanded using 400 grit, and cleaned with alcohol afterwards prior to paint. I applied four coats, without primer. The finish came out to be almost a flat/Satin (use pig spit if you want a bit more luster, I did not) and it came out great. I baked my guards in the oven at 500 degrees for about an hour, and rode with the exhaust painted part on the bike for about half an hour or more to get heat treated. Time will tell, but I've heard it will be great for a very long time based on everything mentioned. The end results are exactly wheat to was looking for and the coverage was excellent. I highly recommend using this over other brands. If for any reason this changes over time I will update my review, however unlikely. Good luck

Best high heat paint on the market to my mind.Good preparation is key with this product and if you have a large oven best results achieved curing the finish.Used this on my Harley pipe heat shields and the finish for me is awesome.(The shields were sandblasted first)Top marks.

Arrived very quickly. Easy to use. Has cured as black however due to the Covid-19 lock down haven't been able to ride bike as yet to see whether this will impact the colour. At the moment, very pleased product as its done it's job!

Good stuff, expensive though but it works. Not quite dark black but it is black, sort of dark dark grey in the direct light but its black enough.

Does what it says on the can. Easy to useI found running my scooter for a minute warmed up the exhaust such that the paint cured very quickly to a smooth Matt finish

I honestly have no idea how the stuff works -- when I went to use it, I could get one squirt out of the can and it completely quit spraying. Tried multiple nozzles, same result. A total dud. Clearly very old stock that makes the actual paint, no matter how good it may be, useless.

Stuff works great! Surface prep is key to get good results. Once cleaned, your parts should only be handled with gloves. Bake at 500F for an hour and its heat & chemical resistant (I use it on rifles, oils and solvents don't appear to phase it). Takes quite a bit of handling without rubbing off or wearing through.

This stuff is awesome. Out of all of the VHT paints ive used, this one give the best finish by far. Painted exhaust on my bike and even recoated my bbq in the stuff. Stands up excellently to the heat. I would only recommend this product!
