I have a twin engine cruiser with a Standard Horizon VHF mounted low and to port from the helm position. I had to be at idle to hear the audio from the radio speaker. I installed this unit and have it on a temporary mount at the moment to see if I like it. So far, it's been the answer to my issue. I would purchase the speaker again. It comes with a male plug in jack so I bought the female companion and wired that to the output wires of the VHF. Works like a charm.

Great speaker actually had to turn it down, can hear it over my Merc 150 hp out drive. Very easy to install just plug into back of my radio , everything you need come with it. For the price if it last a season in good, only time will tell

I installed this in the pilothouse of our cabin cruiser because the very small speaker built in to the VHF radio is not loud and clear enough to be reasonably heard while underway. I was skeptical of this product due to it's low price compared to other brands but was pleasantly surprised at the sound output when I hooked it up. It is very clear and will play louder than needed in close quarters. Mounting overhead away from the compass was important so that it's magnet does not influence it. The cord was plenty long enough to snake around to the back of the instrument panel and it even came with an adapter to go from it's Mini plug to an RCA plug. Nice! I am very happy with this quality product for such a low price!BenSalish Sea

Installed this speaker as a Public Address (PA) on my boat. This unit comes with a jack to plug it into a VHF marine radio (if your radio has one). My VHF radio did not have a jack plug, so I cut the wires and direct wired it to my VHF. Works great. The speaker comes with 10 feet of #18 copper wires, with the black wire as the Neg (-) and the black wire with a white stripe is the positive (+).Not every VHF has a PA option, so you'll need to check your manual. However, every VHF has the ability to add an extension speaker that is better than the small 1" piece of crap built into the VHF. The sound coming out of the unit is very clear, and their is no distorion when the volume gets turned waaaaaaay up.I'll post a follow up message after I use this a few months out on the water and the unit gets wet.

More of a description rating. It appears to be a good speaker with hardware for mounting. The problem is the photo shows a definite white color. It is actually off white, light cream. I realize it’s hard to match all white hull colors perfectly, but the photo is not close to its actual shade.

Works as advertised. It replaced the same speaker that came with my boat. I think 15 years of service is good for an outdoor speaker. Why did I not give it 5 stars??? A good speaker is something I like, not love.

This is a great purchase. I use it on my boat and it can be heard over the noise of the engines while under way.At one time I had a smaller one by the same manufacturer and it broke down over time. The original was much smaller in size. When I priced it at our local marine store the smaller one was the same price I paid for this one. I thought I was purchasing the smaller one and was very happy to see I got the larger unit at the same price as the smaller one.The voices are very clear coming over this remote speaker. It comes with a mounting bracket that is easy to mount. Most VHF radios come with wiring instructions for a remote speaker so it is very easy to hook up.

Works as expected, volume good, install easy. Swivel bracket doesn't allow much movement up and down. I bought this to replace the exact same speaker. For a little more $$ there are better quality speakers available.
