This is really a fun gadget. We've got a fire pit outside and I though it would be fun to have something like this around for lighting the fires. Maybe I was just hoping, but I thought that the trigger would be connected to the propane fuel as well as the igniter, but alas, it isn't. You need to turn on the propane and let it start flowing just like any other yard torch, and then when you pull the trigger, it just lights the torch. You need to use the knob on top to adjust the flame and power, and ultimately, turn it off. There is a warning to not use for more than 5 min continuously which is probably appropriate. It is mostly plastic but seems well made and those parts are enough from the torch source that it would take a bit of time and heat (maybe more from the fire in the pit) to start melting anything. Overall this is still a pretty fun way to light the fires btu if you already have a torch, just know that this is the same thing with better "curb appeal"

This works well as a fun novelty toy. It's not really a utility flame thrower for burning weeds and stuff like that, but it does what it says on the package and throws a 12" long flame... not bad for something like this. I used it to start a bonfire, so had it running for quite a bit of time straight and nothing melted and it worked just fine. The quality is good, especially at this price point. It uses the thicker green propane canisters that are more readily available at places like Walmart. My Not-A-Flame-Thrower from The Boring Company is inferior to this in every way and costs 10x as much... I would much rather have this one than the Boring Company one.You won't go wrong if you're looking for a novelty flame thrower... and it makes a cool sound when operating.

This torch works well for it intended purpose, which is to say it burns fuel and creates a flame. It has a fun design and is not your standard firestarting torch. I have used this for igniting logs in the firebox of my offset and it makes this process much easier than it was in the past.When I brought this out for the first time to start up a fire everyone gave it funny stares which quickly turned to lots of questions once it was lit, the funnies one being "is that a not-a-flame-thrower?"My biggest issue with this is the use of plastic. I really feel on a device used for creating fire, plastic was a bad choice. however, it hasn't failed yet after multiple uses so I am only docking one star.Overall if you are looking for a torch to start your logs on an offset or a wood firepit this is a great fun choice!

Who doesn't want a personal flame thrower? Accepts thread in style propane bottles and throws a decent flame. You do get looks if you're lighting your camp fire with this! LOL well balanced with the handles and you don't get a cold nozzle in your hands when running it.

Most of this torch is plastic and it doesn't give vibes of being a serious item. But this is not for irresponsible types. The metal part gets HOT! Don't touch and don't put it down near anything that could catch fire. The flame goes all the way to blue. Remember also to not turn the torch upside down during use.There are not a lot of instructions for this item, but it's easy to figure out. The gas canister just screws in, then there is a knob up top to control how much gas goes through/how much fire you are making, then pull the trigger. I did have to pull it a couple of times and I would assume that is for safety. Also for safety I store the torch without the gas canister attached. It is very easy to use and an effective -if not extra- way to light a fire. Certainly a conversation starter, the torch works as advertised.

This is a great flame thrower. The rifle design is practical in how it is handled, and looks cool as you walk around flaming things. I'm on my first bottle (why it took me so long to get this out) but I got an attachment to load my own bottles out of a big tank. I'll need extra tanks as much flame as this blows out. I needed something like this to melt silver for jewelry making. It does melt scraps and pieces cut to be smaller and gets them hot enough to pour into molds. Keeps me from having to fire up the big bottles with a truly big boy tip at the end of a couple of hoses with gauges and warnings all over them. In my mind, a second generation cigarette lighter will be safer. Like I say, just got the bottle and used it a few seconds. Will get back if something horrible happens.

While this is advertised as being a "tool" and there are many legitimate uses for a propane torch which I had hoped to use this for (while having some fun) this is 100% a novelty item.The very minimal instructions clearly state not to burn for more than two minutes or allow the unit to idle, nor to aim it more than 45 degrees up or down. That makes it entirely useless for melting snow or roofing applications, which I had hoped to use it for. It is too bulky for plumbing work and only compatible with propane, not map gas, and again, you can't aim it upwards of 45 degrees so, plumbing is out of spec for this device.The body of this unit is fairly lightweight plastic. The gas valve does not give a positive shutoff indication. This is a dangerous toy, and nothing more. With that said, it is a cool dangerous toy, with which you can certainly make very poor decisions/great stories at a party, so it earns two stars.
